20 mile commute on an Electric Mountain Bike...

A full suspension bike seems overkill to me, and may require more looking after than you would like to keep it running sweetly. A hardtail with shallow tread balloon tyres - such as Schwalbe Big Ben or Super Moto X - would provide a good compromise between rolling resistance, puncture...

We managed well enough without the EU and we will manage well enough without it again. If we can ever extricate ourselves. It is a pity those who are so keen for us to stay don't concentrate their energies on making our exit a success. A few words on a forum is neither here nor there, but it...

Slight creak Bosch CX on Cube

I use carbon assembly paste on my non-carbon seat tube. The grease stops the tube seizing and the granules help the clamp grip without the need to over tighten it. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/tacx-carbon-assembly-compound/rp-prod75810

As a British consumer, I'm content goods are labelled with their country of origin. Not that I pay a great deal of attention to it. I suspect you are correct about Brexit, the trading environment will not be massively affected. There will be winners and losers, but not massive winners or...

The Act insisted all manufactured goods were labelled with their country of origin, not just German goods. You may wish to swallow the opinion of a German website the Act was 'aimed' at Germany because it fits your 'knock, knock, knock' agenda. As an importer of manufactured goods you are also...

2017 cube reaction hybrid pro 400

The smaller two amp charger is marketed in the UK as a travel charger, although it would need a full overnight to charge a 500wh battery. I note your bike also came with a non-UK compliant mains lead, so I wonder if Evans got hold of a batch of cheaper European spec bikes. No matter, you have...

Which bike for hills for a heavier person?

Several 20-25% climbs in Yorkshire - Park Rash, Sutton Bank, Boltby, to name three I know of. Then there's Rosedale Chimney, which some say is the steepest road in the UK. It's certainly one of the steepest. As flecc says, all of these climbs, particularly the steepest bits, are short. On...

Haibike 29er x duro tubless tyre recommendations for tow path rides

It's still not clear, does the tyre bead blow off the rim? If that's happening with new tyres, it does suggest the wheel is not gripping the tyre correctly. Does this happen to the same wheel each time? Marathon Plus tyres are as tough as tyres get, so if you bought new wheels there wouldn't...

Which bike for hills for a heavier person?

The phrase 'you don't get owt for nowt' was never more true than with batteries. Barrelling up 30 per cent climbs on a throttle will use, to use a technical term, lots of juice. Given that two Bosch batteries will barely do 100 miles, with twice the power you would need four/five 'standard'...

Which bike for hills for a heavier person?

Phew, glad I got the tame Bosch pedelec. No doubt I would have needed a battery the size of a suitcase to get anywhere. Could have been an expensive mistake, given I didn't really have a clue what I was buying when I bought my first ebike. Quite common to see these high powered bikes for sale...

Haibike 29er x duro tubless tyre recommendations for tow path rides

When you say blow outs, is the tyre blowing off the rim or do you simply mean a puncture that goes bang? Either way, you need to get to the bottom of that before going tubeless.

Which bike for hills for a heavier person?

Are you saying a BBSHD would get a rider up 30 per cent on throttle alone? That's some poke, my Bosch bikes would need lowest gear and significant effort - in my terms - from me.

Which bike for hills for a heavier person?

A crank bike with a flat battery is no more or less unusable than a hub bike with a flat battery. Of greater concern is the big hill, however steep it is. I think you need to test a bike on it to make sure you can get to the top.

Anyone looking for a bargain Bosch powered mtb?

As the bike is ally, it's less likely to have been made in a back of shop workshop due to the extra difficulty of working with that material. Most of the tubes are circular or plain ovals, which are cheaper than fancy shaped extrusions. Liq bikes could well be the budget brand of Focus.

2017 Orbea Keram 20 LR - Best Value Bosch emtb?

One £1,750 Bosch mountain bike rides much the same as another. So it comes down to other factors such as fit, colour preference, availability, and likely quality of service. If the Orbea dealer you rented from appears to you to know what they are doing, there's no point in looking any further...

Anyone looking for a bargain Bosch powered mtb?

I get the impression the German bike trade is a bit like ours used to be - quite a few shops have their own brands. Building a pushbike from scratch isn't so hard, a few tubes, a hacksaw, a jig, and a welding torch is about all that's needed. An ebike frame could even be simpler as the bottom...

    Advice please

A £70 alignment tool would ensure you are on the straight and narrow. Too much for most home mechanics, and not all bike shop workshops have them. But a lot of niggly gear indexing/jumping problems are eventually traced to a bent hanger...

    Advice please

A slight bend - all but invisible to the naked eye - in the hanger can cause shifting problems. You may be OK, but if you have trouble indexing the gears with the new derailer it's worth changing the hanger rather than struggling for ages with the existing one.

Selling a used ebike, what are the pitfalls.

The other point with accessories is clutter - same as a house. Take them all off, particularly with a newish bike you want the buyer to think it's like a new bike, a blank canvas, which he can make his own. And I mean remove everything, including small things like pumps, handlebar accessory...
