    Merida/Shimano Customer Service Issues

Your contract is with the dealer, but they fob you off to the manufacturer/importer who in turn fob you off to the maker of the component. This is typical of the bike trade, but your dealer is far from first rate. Were they that, they would have replaced your charger promptly then sorted it...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Just another of the literally thousands of rants you've made on this thread. Your posts have been rendered meaningless by their volume. Less is more, but you've lost that battle already. Usual patronising from Remainers. It was that attitude that cost you the referendum. Talk about...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Typical EU response, lots of words, very little meaning. It is taking years to extricate ourselves from this garbage, which is a good enough reason in itself to leave. Looks to me as if someone is making it difficult. Then there's our borders, if the UK is such a dump how is it we are...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Mmm, so if the UK is such a waste of space why does the EU make it so difficult for us to leave? You'd think they'd snatch our hands off, be glad to see the back of us. Don't tell me, it's altruism, they have our best interests at heart. Yeah, right.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The saddest thing about that is you probably believe it. The EU is no more than an over-blown treaty organisation with a vastly inflated sense of its own importance. When the history of Europe comes to be written it will rate little more than a footnote.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The sun will still rise the morning after Brexit. There will be a few daft stories, some which might be entertaining, but nothing much will happen. Other than a few Remain zealots looking rather stupid.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I reckon May is right when she said a few minutes ago: "There should not be that second referendum," Theresa May told the media. "The public would expect parliament to vote on the deal. For most people in the UK they want a deal done and want us to get on with focusing more clearly on the...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

We vote in a government to govern, we can't have public votes on every step of every poxy decision. In any case, you only want a vote because you think there's a good chance of a result you will like. Are you Sturgeon in disguise?

    BBC children in need

Nature of the internet, I'm afraid. Some users see it as their mission in life to shoot down anything posted which is remotely positive. I suspect 99.9% of the population think Children in Need is either a damn good thing, or they have no strong view either way. But vanishingly few of those...

Is Hatti going to give you a vote of confidence? Is so, you are definitely on the way out.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Yes - and no. Yes, a no confidence vote looks likely, but the result of that vote is far from certain. All May needs is a simple majority of the parliamentary party to, er, remain in office. There may be 50-odd MPs writing no confidence letters but that still leaves more than 250 MPs who...

The problem with E-bikes in the UK.

Perception, as I said. People will not buy an electric car because they do not want a vehicle with a short range. It's not rational, given that the range can be managed, but it doesn't have to be rational. That attitude may change over time, but like battery technology, progress is...

The problem with E-bikes in the UK.

A big problem with electric cars is not so much range as range anxiety. Would anyone buy a petrol car with a two or three gallon tank? Short answer is 'no', even though the same arguments about rarely needing long range in one journey apply.

    New bike advice

I take it you want a mountain bike. An MTB tyre and wheelset for your Cube would be cheaper. If it has to be another bike, one with a Bosch motor would give battery commonality with the Cube. Yamaha motored bikes tend to be a bit cheaper, but I reckon you could find a Bosch hardtail for...

Advice for a true 'Gentlemans' e-bike...

A fit club cyclist could put more torque through a gear hub than the likes of us with our relatively weedy fitness and relatively weedy 250w nominal motors.

Has anyone tried the new Emu Mini folding e-bike?

My Nano kit was basic Chinese components, reliable enough in my hands although the solicitor I sold it to had to replace the motor and the battery over time. I'm not familiar with the Sparticle kit, but it looks similar.

    Which Ebike-Need Help

Tyre choice for 24" wheels is limited, as it is for 20" to a lesser extent. Tubes of all sizes may be on websites, but in practice are not that easy to find. For example, my AVE bike takes 20" presta which I had to order - 20" schrader being more commonly available. However you cut it, 24" is...

    Which Ebike-Need Help

Some rather, er, average Chinese bikes there often offered with little or no service back-up. A 24" wheel bike is a thought, but it's an uncommon size - you might find yourself nipping into a bike shop for a tube only to find they have none. A 20" wheel bike on podgy balloon tyres rolls well...
