Steel or aluminium frame to fit hub motor

Hi. Thanks for replying. They are both specialised branded bikes and I want to fit a rear hub. The aluminium bike has v brakes but will take disc front and back. The steel bike is over 20 years old but has disc mount on fork only. I'm thinking that will be best option?

Steel or aluminium frame to fit hub motor

There are two bikes in my area going for under £100 suitable for fitting hub motor. One aluminium frame and another older bike with steel a frame. I'm unsure about aluminium? I read steel is always better.. Thoughts?

    Suspension seat post

I tightened the quick release to the point I had to hit it shut with wooden mallet. That seems to have worked. Bet it's not a quick release anymore. Ha

    Suspension seat post

My seat post is a pressure chip type Vs a nut on a thread. Its good for quick release to remove seat but not great for a firm hold. If I can't get it tight enough I may need to look up alternative like a nut and bolt. Can I swap quick release seat post clamp for a nut and bolt?

    Suspension seat post

Update Suspension seat post was too high for my bike. On lowest setting I was sat too high as I couldn't touch the floor with my feet. Just how my bike is being it's 22inch frame, which is a tad big for me tbh but ok with original seat on lowest setting. Should of thought about that..

    Battery to fit a kit.

I noticed a few ebike kits don't come with a battery. I guess you connect the battery to whichever controller you you have but is this easy? I guess If you can't find a plug to fit then get soldering iron out?.. Just wondered.

    Bike pumps and tyre pressure

Turns out I have a track pump like the one posted above. I use on car but has a switch around end. Who knew. Works a treat on both size valves plus it has a pressure gauge. I'm also studying how to use current hand pumps I own. Don't think I've been using correctly

True a wheel. Bike shop or DIY?

@chris_n I posted about wheel. It was way out from new. However when I was younger I can't remember buckles being a problem. As you say I think small stuff rides unnoticed . Guess we are older and a tad OCD.ha..

    Is one bike enough?

I've got one ebike now however, if I get mechanical trouble I have to catch the bus until I can fix it. I'm thinking of getting a backup bike? True a wheel. Bike shop or DIY?

With myself, if I applied brake i would rock back and forth. Just no control over the braking pressure.

True a wheel. Bike shop or DIY?

Yeah I have. Guy was a car mechanic I think. He's got a personality as well. I'd like to get on the tools and play in there. I'll support the shop and much as I can..

    Bike pumps and tyre pressure

I struggle with bike pumps for some reason. It's a right comedy trying to get air in tyres! If I do manage to get the tyres inflated I seem to let the air out trying to remove pump. Ha.. Honest it's a nightmare.. I had 4 different bike pumps going trying to get air in my tyres. One own brand...

    Suspension seat post

I've ordered a suspension seat post to try out on my MTB bike. Who knew it was a thing because I never. I tried a bigger saddle but that never helped the comfort, but the bigger 2.00 tyres have made a massive difference. Anyone fitted and rode with a suspension saddle post? Just asking for interest.

    Peddles advise

I decided to buy new peddles from Halfords a few weeks ago and tried to fit them at weekend but one was seized up. I took back to Halfords right on closing and swapped (cost £1.60) don't ask! Lads couldn't swap only refund and I had to pay ticket price Vs original online discount price...
