    BMC 50A 36-60v Controllers (IRFB 4110 Mosfets)

It'll run a Bafang motor no problem but the watts are way to high if you want the motor to last.

    Regen with LiPo Q.

Yup - you'll be fine if you're limiting the volts.

Can someone explain how a 350W motor can be limited to 250W?

If you draw 600watts from the battery, @ 75% efficiency the motor will only be providing 450watts of motion, the other 150watts is wasted as heat. At low rpms, high load efficiency can drop off to 50% - hence "motor current can be up to twice the battery current". Another thing to consider is...

Can someone explain how a 350W motor can be limited to 250W?

Speedict shows peak amp draw @ the battery, but the motor is rated at 250w continuous*. *The continuous current rating of the motor is determined as the maximum amount of power (Power = I2*RL) the motor can continuously dissipate without exceeding its temperature rating.

Urgent Help re electric bike law.

But it wouldn't cause no end of grief. Any legal dept will laugh out of the office for even suggesting the seller is at fault.

God I'd forgotten how much of a PITA setting Magura's up is! Next job - hook up a reed switch to act as a brake cut out!

I love riding at night - best time to particpate in some cheeky trail riding as well

Yeah, I know what you mean, I've used Maguras before. The Trek has a nice frame though and the rear wheel drops back into the exact same place every time though - it's a really nicely finished frame.

    New build.

Yeah it is, makes lights on the bike kinda redundant :-) Apart from the bit where I cycle behind the tableaux - it's pitch black! Only really busy with peds Fri/Sat/Sun as well and October half term. The traffic on the roads is crazy though - that's why I love taking the bike at that time of...

    New build.

Ok sure, a quick summary wouldn't go amiss :-) Bike is a 2011 Trek FX 7.5. The motor is now a Cute 100, which has replaced the Tongxin used originally. Nothing wrong with the Tongxin but I was getting fed up "baby sitting" it - it's nice to just be able to throttle up from a stand still...

    Approved ebike list?

I really don't think we should be accepting a 250w motor as the norm. Rather, we should be pushing for the legislation to allow higher power units upto 750w (as with our American cousins) should be what we strive for. I know the EU have already knocked it back - doesn't mean they are right though.

    Approved ebike list?

But only if the legality of the bike is questioned - which seems rare (didn't happen in my friends case - his wife just came and picked the bike up, police didn't take a second look at it - they just advised him to take photos of the damage when he got it home).

    Approved ebike list?

Exactly. The poor state of the law also brings up another unfortunate issue. If someone has doubts about the legality of thier ebike, I wonder how great the temptation would be to leave the scene of an accident - presuming the rider is able to do so? If the law were more reasonable then...

    Approved ebike list?

So at the end of this debate (although I doubt it's the end) I'm still at the same conclusion:- 1: Even if my bike was restricted to 25kh/h 2: AND even if I made some notional attempt to adhere to the 250w continous ruling 3: AND even if I removed the throttle I would STILL be...

Phew! I'm so glad my motor is rated at 250w ;)

Woosh Sirocco 2 review - who?

That is without a doubt the shortest, worst review of an ebike I have ever read :(

    Pedelec Crash Testing Research

Nope. There is however some concern in the German insurance industry that their main revenue stream could dry up if more people leave their cars at home and get on ebikes :-) EDIT:- I see d8veh is on the same wavelength as myself :-)
