Just ordered a 750w BBS02, my first electric bike !

The most I've measured my 48v500w (programmed to 18a) BBS02 at is 1100w (on a 15s lipo pack). The 48v750w is programmed to 25a, so that's 1260w peak on a fresh 12s battery.

    Mosso 29er 750w BBs02 first impressions

Change the display to km/h and the wheel size to 16". Limited speed is now 50mph (effectively unlimited as the BBS will never propel you to that speed, but my BBS02 will crack on at 40mph) and the display will still read correctly, except it'll show it in kmh - but 25km/h on the display will be...

Dahon Helios SL electric conversion advice

Just loosen every spoke by half a turn on the non drive side and tighten every spoke by half a turn on the drive side - rinse/repeat until the dishing is correct. I doubt you'll run out of spoke threads - it's not that far out.

    Spy shots New Kudos Bikes

'Fraid you're talking out of your bottom there. And if you want to be pedantic, it's the controller that makes a motor powerful, and the BPM can take 1500watts easily.

What's the best maintenance free bike?

Scott sub 10 is very low maintanence. http://www.evanscycles.com/products/scott/sub-speed-10-2014-hybrid-bike-ec056054 Of course, if you add an electric kit to it, you introduce adtional points of failure. Stick with a low power, light weight front hub (something like a Q100) and it doesn't...

A slave cannot walk away. An employee can. I'm a student with a small self employed sideline - who am I a slave to?

So I went to a trail centre...

All ebikers have a responsibilty to smash Strava into the ground. Get out there and start taking KoM's off people. Riders will stop using Strava when they eventually realise the futility of it all . Then we can all get back to enjoying a ride, rather than every ride being a race :-)

Secret of panasonic hub climbing power

The Panasonic hub drive pulls over 1000 watts, that's why it climbs so well :)

    Rumbled

Messing with people on Strava is one of the pleasures of riding an ebike :) I did feel a little guilty when one guy who I poached a Strava segment off commented he'd had a bit of a "heart moment" when trying to get it back!

Should EBikes be allowed on MTB trails?

Already discussed here: http://pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/e-mtbs-are-now-in-the-spotlight-as-well.18893/ If it's a "legal" ebike, then you can go anywhere a normal bike or horse can. If it's a private "trail center", i.e. Bike Park Wales then it's up to the cener owner, although BPW...

E-MTB's are now in the spotlight as well

Don't moan about it, jump into the comments section and start talking. Bear in mind though, it's a US article talking about ebike use on US trails (and bear in mind most US states allow ebikes with 20mph or 25mph limits and 750watts or 1000watts). Opinions are like a***holes, everyone has one.

    Battery capacity drop

You're a couple of volts short of a full charge there - should be 42v. I think you've got a bad cell in the battery. If you can take a photo of the opened battery that would help and we can tell you where to measure the voltages.

    Chunky monkey needs a kit!

I've got around 300 cycles out of my zippy compacts so far and still going strong, resistance is around 10mohm per pack so I reckon I've got another 200 reall world cycles left in them before they get relgated to "emergency backup" packs. I do however only charge them to 4.1v per cell and I...

    Dangerous and inefficient pedal assist?!?

I've had a few friends I've helped build ebikes and a two of them declined my suggestion to fit ebrakes - for similar reasons you've given. Funnily enough, it's only those two who have also crashed thier ebikes. Seriously, fit one ebrake for the rear brake at least. As for pedal assist -...

    Chunky monkey needs a kit!

Irrelevant as the maximum tension on a spoke is limited by the nipple, not the spoke itself. You'll round a nipple way before you snap a spoke and 13g and 14g nipples have approximately the same "rounding" resistance. It's not "shock" that snaps spokes, it's poorly tensioned wheels and the...

    Chunky monkey needs a kit!

Nope - in regular contact with all of them. That's why you don't build rear wheels + hub motors with 13g spokes. Use 14/16/14 double butted spokes and get a competent wheel builder to build it for you and you'll never break a spoke unless you put a stick through the wheel. The elasticity in...

    Chunky monkey needs a kit!

Wrong. Because most rear wheels with motors are badly built. I've built 20+ rear wheels with motors and no one has ever come back to me with a broken spoke. A good wheel is 10% rim, 10% spokes and 80% builder.
