30 mile each way commute, which bike is best?

Totally agree on this, the effort required to push a 29" MTB at 40+kph is huge. A more efficient bike with less drag / weight and skinnier (but not too skinny) tyres would be ideal, that way you could back off the assistance, maintain the same speed and benefit from increased range.

30 mile each way commute, which bike is best?

I have never seen one but I followed this thread: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/oxygen-scross-mtb-ongoing-review.28142/ I believe that they're a popular bike on here.

30 mile each way commute, which bike is best?

Don't know about 54mls a day, 5 days a week on a roadbike. I did it for a while and shoulder pain stopped me. I'd be going for something with more relaxed geometry and thicker tyres. Not aware of any bike that fits that bill however. OP, in addition you will possibly need to upgrade any...

30 mile each way commute, which bike is best?

I use a Cube eMTB with a bosch crank drive and 500wh battery to travel 17mls each way to work. Its been delimited so I run at ~40kph and complete the trip in ~45min. Problem is that I pretty much drain the battery doing this as I am in turbo (top assistance level). In addition there is more...

    Possible motor damage from RTA

Thanks for that, Irish law is basically based on the UK's so much the same. The van driver (ironically the van was from outside Belfast in N.I.) drove off after threatening to put me in an ambulance). I limped up to the local Police station which was around the corner and reported it anyway. My...

    Possible motor damage from RTA

Thanks lads, I am onto the company that own the van, they have asked for pictures of the damage but I will have to make a case for a new motor. I would imagine that they will want an assessment by a dealer.

    Possible motor damage from RTA

Hi all, I was wondering if I utilise the collective wisdom of the forum. I have a Cube eMTB with a bosch performance CX motor. I use it daily to commute and have found it to be totally reliable and effective, covering 250km a week. Today I was involved in a collision (a left hook) with a...

    Badass Bosch ordered

I have a Cube Reaction HPA 500 and I have an 18T on the front cog. Means that I can cruise at 45kph and spin out at 55 (downhill obvs). My groupset is 11-36T. I see that the race 500 has a 11-46t groupset so conceivably you could run a 20T front cog but you'll only ever use top gears downhill...

Bosch active line plus or performance cx for tuning

I have a delimited bosch CX powered Cube 29er. I cruise between 40-50kph on Turbo and the battery is on its last bar after 26km. My commute is mostly flat but windy with a steep hill at either end. Also I keep a second charger at my desk in work to avoid having to bring one with me.

Cube Reaction Race 500 Puncture Issues and Limited Tyre Choice

This is what I did following a sidewall split on a rapid rob on my Cube 29er. I think that the Cube branded schwalbes supplied on the bikes are lower spec than what you can buy independently. I complained that the tyre had split and chainreaction (to their credit) supplied a different tyre as...

Bike Purchase Advice - 22 Mile (one way) Commute

Funny enough I forgot to charge my battery on the cube last night and had to cycle unassisted for a while this morning. Maintaining 20kph on the flat was easy, heading into wind or uphill obviously cut that a bit. Remember I have a larger front cog and it was still manageable. What I actually...

Bike Purchase Advice - 22 Mile (one way) Commute

For the OP, I have a Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro 500 and I commute 27km each way to work on it. It has the Bosch Performance CX and a 500WH battery. My commute is on tarmac and is mostly flat but with steep climbs at each end. I have derestricted it with a SpeedBox 2 from e-biketuning. This allows...
