Want to know how many miles or km's your Bosch motor should last?

Great info BM! This post should be a sticky. I have 11k km's on mine in a year, dongled and spends most of its time above 25kph, still works fine. If it lasts long enough to get me home today and needs a rebuild by your good self I will consider that money well spent considering the bike has...

    Bigger front Ring

18T on mine on an 11-36T cassette - this spins out at 60kph. Changed it myself and would seriously question anyone trying to charge £100 for a 5min job and a sprocket that costs under a tenner. I have used FSA and Connex sprockets, the Connex seemed to fit better on the shaft. Bought from...

    New bike advice

'Lots' is a relative term. I would love to see the other motors failure rates, you hear more about Bosch CX failures because they sold more of them than the other manufacturers. I've 9500km on mine in 1 year but I don't go offroad and I do grease the motor.

Looking for a reliable (and fun?) commuter

I replace the chain and cassette every 2k miles on my bike. Costs 40euro and takes 20min. I am trialling an ebike specific chain now, we will see if that gives better service. I buy the parts in advance. The front cog on bosch CX can be swapped over to give 4k miles. I degrease the chain on the...

Looking for a reliable (and fun?) commuter

Here is the best place for info I believe, frequently by people bemoaning Bosch, maybe I have just been lucky with mine although as one of the most popular drive systems they will by definition have more failures. Yeah I found Greenaer a bit pricey alright, although good for servicing etc. Also...

Looking for a reliable (and fun?) commuter

I have a Cube eMTB and use it for a similar distance commute in Dublin. I have detailed my experience here: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/cube-reaction-hybrid-hpa-pro-500-2017.32618/ As I have said the bike has been excellent so far, especially in terms of reliability. On reflection I...

Cube Cross Hybrid Race Allroad 500

Have a cube with the same motor and battery. Has done 9000km this year without any issues but I don't take it offroad (I've more written in the reviews section). I had a look at the spec of the bike you tested and it looks good, not much more than I paid last year and the Allroad has 11spd vs...

    Saddles - for gents of a certain age . . .

After going through many saddles and finding them all uncomfortable I bit the bullet and bought a Brooks B17 with a cutout. It was also uncomfortable for about 6 weeks but now that I have broken it in (or its broken me in - I'm not sure which) I find it hugely comfortable. Also look up...

    First confrontation.

I've gotten it from some psycho cyclist who I run into on my commute. He told me that I had a 'machine between my legs', I asked him 'did your wife tell you that' and rode away. He has it in for me now, its actually funny, now I blow him a kiss which really riles him up. Others sometimes...

    Ebike cassettes and chains

I have a delimited Bosch CX motor and use the bike to commute on roads. Chains last about 2k miles for me. I replace the sprocket, chain and cassette in one go although I have thought of just reversing the sprocket. This was with the standard KMC 10speed chain. The cassette is a shimano HG50...

    Ortler Wien 7-Speed

The seal kit is for active line, performance line and CX afaik, backed up here: https://www.bike24.com/p2236692.html I bought from here: https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/bosch-service-kit-bearing-protection-ring-drive-unit-5-bearing-rings-including-grease-570055

    Ortler Wien 7-Speed

Changing the front chainring is easy and painless imo. The only issue is that every increase of 1 tooth, for instance, equates to 2.5 teeth due to the gearbox in the CX. Re. seal service, see attached .pdf. I get all my parts from bikediscount - chainrings and seal service kit in this example...

Review Cube Reaction Hybrid HPA Pro 500 2017

The Bosch CX system comes in for a hard time on here, so I thought that I would offer a different perspective, based on my experience. My only previous (or subsequent) ride on an ebike was on an old Giant Twist that my mother uses, it is slow and heavy but was quite capable at climbing the hill...

Perhaps buy a spare charger to use in work, that's what I do. Also the Bosch range calculator may give you an idea of what range you can expect https://www.bosch-ebike.com/en/service/range-assistant/ I would have thought you would complete a 2-way trip in sport on a 300wh battery easily...

    Bosch chargers

Chainreaction also supplied a 2-pin but I am going to buy a UK spec lead: https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/bosch-power-cable-for-charger-uk-520771 4euro.... Incidentally it looks the same as my TV power cable, check if you have one spare and if its the correct amperage rating.

Has anyone compared assistance of Dongled Bosch CX to derestricted Oxygen

As a comparison, on my CX powered MTB, in turbo and on a dongle, I would cruise at 27mph. The motor seems to give significant assistance if I push harder. I only have 1 bar left on my battery indicator after 17mls however. I suppose the variables are the wind resistance of the bike and the...

30 mile each way commute, which bike is best?

Impressive range / speed. I'd like to try the Oxygen but there is no dealer in Ireland which is a great shame. I suspect that the Oxygen is slower than a dongled CX powered bike but that its range is far higher. I suspect that I would exhaust the battery on mine in 22miles but would average...

30 mile each way commute, which bike is best?

I do find the size, grip, brakes and stability of the eMTB great in traffic. The simple fact is that a Bosch CX with 500wh battery (or similar) will not do 34 miles at 20-25mph on an eMTB. The Oxygen MTB might do it with the larger 13ah battery? Might be edging it. Good value however. A...
