How Does a BMS REALLY Work? As it seems that many here apparently do not know exactly!

Chaps, it pains me to say this but @Andy-Mat is playing you all like a fiddle here. He has clearly got some time on his hands today, and as we all know he loves to play the pantomime villain. He has started two totally weird posts today on topics guaranteed to arrouse a response. And...

Just fitted a TSDZ2 on my cargo bike, now gearing is wrong

I don't really understand what you mean by this. Do you mean that once you get to 18km/h there's no resistance on the pedals (like the chain has fallen off)? One thing you might not be aware of- IIRC the TSDZ has an upper cadence limit of (I think) 90 rpm. So if you pedal too fast you'll find...

    Battery charging, how often

I think you're in danger of re-igniting the fires of disagreement with your question John!! Everything up to post #7 seems to be a good guide to follow + don't charge it if it's freezing cold. One point to note about battery indicators- they're not always accurate. If you want to be scientific...

    Battery charging, how often

Again, going back to my earlier point about assessing risk rationally- most people (apart from Flecc) have gas in their homes, petrol in their garage and Li-On batteries in their pockets.

Ebike charging using Street EV chargers for electric cars

Hang on a minute Wheezy- you've just said on the other thread that you wouldn't want a powerwall in your house, yet here you are trying to put cells in your pants!!

    Geared/high torque 48v motor

I'd second the mobility scoot suggestion. Get a secondhand one off ebay for £100-£200 and it's already got the perfect high torque motor along with batteries (they're normally 2x 12v), control potentiometer and even an ignition key. Just use what you need and sell the rest as spares and the...

    Battery charging, how often

I don't have any skin in this game Andy, I'm an observer. I joined this forum to learn about ebikes and I'm pleased to say I've learned a huge amount from some very knowledgeable people on here. However all I've learned from you is that you like to type a lot....

    Battery charging, how often

Give us facts @Andy-Mat, not opinion. How many deaths in an EV fire per mile driven compared to number of deaths in IC cars per mile driven. Without facts your posts are just sensationalist. Do you work for the Daily Mail?!

    Battery charging, how often

The thing about EV fires (just like shark attacks) is they grab headlines. And just like shark attacks, anyone capable of doing even the most basic risk assessment will realise that whilst the severity of such an incident might be high, the likelihood of it happening is miniscule therefore the...

TSDZ2 Crank fell off - what spec for replacement nut?

Interesting. I'm assuming the BMS needs power to balance the cells whilst charging, hence the requirement to turn it on. I wonder why mine charges when it's turned off. I'd better read my instructions....oh wait, I never got any!

    Flit 16

That's quite visually appealling and with a couple of interesting engineering details, however that's a lot of money for a single-speed folding bike. Your money could go a lot further in such a competitive market sector with so many models to choose from.... P.S. Welcome Freddy!

TSDZ2 Crank fell off - what spec for replacement nut?

Where are you getting that from PP? Do you mean when it's on or off the bike? I take my battery off the bike to charge and leave the switch in the "off" position and it charges fine....

Just fitted a TSDZ2 on my cargo bike, now gearing is wrong

You could use an adapter and then just buy a chainring locally. These guys have a German warehouse though a lot of stock also comes from China: http://www.pswpower.com/ven.php?cargo.2017-84-ggtt We see a few "Bakfiets" style cargo bikes and a few longtails here in the UK, but not many of...

Ebike charging using Street EV chargers for electric cars

Good work! Did you use your trailer for any of the long range/ off grid riding that this thread was (originally) about? I'm curious whether it was a practical solution....
