    Purely Hypothetical

I like what you've done there @Sturmey but surely you've started with the wrong base. If you put the hub motor on the front of the TSDZ bike you'd have the best of all worlds- 2wd when you want it and selectable gears for better hill-climbing...

    Long distance commute bike

That seems overzealous to me. You can walk into Tesco and touch a 50p tin of beans then choose not to buy it, why not a £2k bike?! Especially considering they could quite conceivably put it back into stock for 72 hours and the virus would die anyway. There isn't an obvious covid statement on...

    Long distance commute bike

In my mind there are three benefits: a) You can probably get a test ride and try it for size and "feel". b) Returns are much easier. c) (much bigger picture issue here) If we don't keep physical shops in business with our cash then they won't survive and we'll end up buying everything online...

    Long distance commute bike

@jarjar03 I salute you for considering a commute like that, you're a positive role-model to all of us. It's only by pushing the boundaries of convention that progress is made. And to all the naysayers out there, the words of Confucius seem appropriate: "The man who says that it cannot be done...

    Bafang mid mount motor

It's great to hear you're having so much fun on your new toy Rob. Your only problem now will be your Mrs.....time to start planning a second conversion project for her maybe? P.S. Don't feel guilty overtaking the lycra-clad road warriors- that's one of my favourite sports!!

TongSheng TSDZ2 making a weird noise after 10 minutes use

Your 36v battery will be at approx 42v fully charged. My 48v TSDZ is at 54.6v fully charged and is pretty much "running on fumes" if it gets as low as 42v. If you're suspecting that you have the same issue as the OP, you need to get some accurate voltage data with a multimeter or voltmeter to...

BrakeAce lets mountain bikers know if they're too big on the brakes

They've definitely seen some action....maybe you need to lose some weight SW ;)

BrakeAce lets mountain bikers know if they're too big on the brakes

The sensors aren't there to save the rider, they're there to save the motor... Has your bike got 203's front and back SW?

Just bought a used Woosh Fat Boy

Ultimately, what this thread is about is differing opinions and viewpoints, all of them equally valid (in my opinion). What makes it interesting (for me at least) is the level of technical debate and the educational potential contained therein. The point I was making (and will make again) is...

BrakeAce lets mountain bikers know if they're too big on the brakes

Glad to see you back @Andy-Mat, I thought you might have been scared away after yesterday's shenanigans in your other thread here.... https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/how-does-a-bms-really-work-as-it-seems-that-many-here-apparently-do-not-know-exactly.38301/page-2 Regarding this one-...

Just bought a used Woosh Fat Boy

I've been watching this discussion with interest and I've already learned loads (thanks everyone). On this point though @WheezyRider you're not comparing apples with apples. You're (I assume) a guy working in his shed who clearly has a huge amount of knowledge and confidence in that knowledge...

    Hi there

You can always order a TSDZ with throttle and just not plug it in, thus keeping the option open for the future. Personally I find a throttle invaluable for riding in deep 4x4 ruts. You can just stand with the pedals at the 3 o'clock/ 9 o'clock positions and ride through without catching the...

    Hi there

Welcome Azair Assuming you've got your heart set on a mid-drive then the two main camps are the Bafang BBS02/BBSHD or the Tongsheng TSDZ2. The Bafangs use cadence sensing (the motor works as soon as you turn the pedals- no effort required) whereas the Tongsheng uses torque sensing (the motor...

Volt Axis very good with a little bad.............

Nice looking bike Trek I'm curious about the auto gearchange. Does it sense your cadence and automatically change up/ down when you pedal too fast/ slow? Thanks for the review

Just fitted a TSDZ2 on my cargo bike, now gearing is wrong

So based on post #9 you're saying it's faster in 3rd gear than in 7th? And yet 3rd gear is lower.... Did you try switching the assist off like @peter.c suggested in post #8?

Just fitted a TSDZ2 on my cargo bike, now gearing is wrong

Just checking terminology: When you said 3rd gear and 7th gear, are you counting from the biggest gear? So for example, 3rd gear has got more teeth on it than 7th?
