    EBC 250W FWD Woes

Morning! I'm running an Orbit Orion with an Electric Bike Conversions 250W front wheel. Just went to ride to work on the Orbit and I've got no bars at all on the power meter and no power on the throttle at all. When I wired the kit, the battery and sensor connections were soldered by me, so...

    Pitlock security...

I had some Pitlock skewers, but replaced them with allen key ones. As mentioned above, you have to be sure you have the key with you and they were a little bit fiddly to use. Very secure, I'll admit, but I think my allen key skewers offer enough security for my needs.

Ebay seller ' Electric Bike Conversions ' seem to be doing well :)

I found their kits OK - save for the very excessive length of the wiring. However, I got a card with my order saying they positively welcomed feedback, so I spent no inconsiderable length of time praising them and giving constructive criticism where needed, IMO. Not one word of acknowledgement...

    Advice most appreciated

As I was quite harsh on the Sirocco above, I can praise the battery on the Woosh. Although it was two years old when I sold it, it was still better than the brand new one I got from a leading kit provider by a country mile.

    Advice most appreciated

I had a Woosh Sirocco CDL (bought secondhand with only 200 miles on the clock) and I used it on a 16-mile round-trip commute and it swiftly failed to perform the task, so beware. I also had to upgrade quite a few parts (brakes, tyres, etc.) to make it rideable in my view. I was told that the...

It is! Fast, but not subtle!

    27.5+ Conversion

Thanks. I'm at the other end of the scale. My dodgy knees mean I'm a spinner, and I'm going to stick with the derailleur set up on the rear (though my Orbit has an Alfine 8-speed rear hub). My commute is undulating, but I have the Orbit for that. This bike is for off-road use and as the...

    27.5+ Conversion

Thanks for the quick replies. Bearing in mind I am a reasonably fit cyclist, would a 36t or 42t ready-made ring be best with the 11-32 cassette on my Carrera?

    27.5+ Conversion

Hmm, I need to get something to fit my 9-speed Carrera Kraken with a BBS01. Being a bit of a numpty in these things, which adaptor and/or ring would I need to have the best chainline?

Electric Bike Conversions 500W 700C Front Wheel

It's the front wheel from this kit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/500W-Electric-E-Bike-Conversion-Kit-36v-13amp-Lithium-Battery-Front-Rear-Wheel-/111887599062?var=&hash=item1a0d0545d6:m:miU0Jmspz3m_X3UMV-zqGsw I'd do the motor only (& the spokes if wanted & I can remove them) for £100 posted...

Electric Bike Conversions 500W 700C Front Wheel

I bought this earlier this year and fitted it to my Orbit. I soon found out that it is dented on the rim. I think this happened in transit, but I didn't notice and used the wheel, so couldn't be 100% sure. It's enough to make braking a juddering experience, so can't be used as is. Anyway, it's...

Events: 15th NEC Cycle Show Birmingham: 23rd-25th September 2016

It probably wasn't your intention, but this does rather unfairly reflect what happened. Birmingham City Council had for decades undervalued the contribution their female staff had been making. Male staff doing different 'manly' work were offered bonus schemes and overtime, whilst many of these...

Events: 15th NEC Cycle Show Birmingham: 23rd-25th September 2016

I went on Sunday. I got my ticket discounted to £11 via Cycling UK, but the 'fulfilment fee' swallowed that! I parked at Birmingham International and thought I'd been ripped off at £9. I was rather underwhelmed by the show. Plenty there for the lycra brigade, but the eBike Village was...

A slightly different question about tyres

Well, it's quite a big difference. A 57-559 Rapid Ron weighs 720g; a Marathon + MTB 1260. That's 1080g difference for a pair. Whilst I agree that it's the way to go for puncture resistance, the (unsprung) weight difference is sizeable, even without the extra weight of Slime tubes.
