    Oxygen E mate MTB13AH

The bike is still performing well, although there were some battery connector issues now ironed out. Since the fix, I seem to have more power available which is good, although I sometimes feel like I should be doing more of the work! I run it on Eco setting 5 on the road, 2 or 3 on bridleways...

    Oxygen E-mate 2016 Avid BB7 Brake Upgrade

My best memory of the BB7 is going down a steep hill in Budapest on a very heavy HP Spirit recumbent (unpowered) and encountering a sudden turn. Instinctively I pulled the front brake very hard indeed; easily enough to send me over the bars of an upwrong bike. The BB7 pulled me to a stop in just...

    Oxygen E-mate 2016 Avid BB7 Brake Upgrade

I felt the same way about my eMate's brakes until I swapped the Tektro OEM pads for Clarks'. It was a total transformation. Mind you, I've had BB7's and they are a fine brake.

bitb more info on panda bikes pro/eco offer please?

I started my installation yesterday, but found that the recipient bike needs more recommissioning than I'd thought. I got the front wheel fitted and then found the front brake needs recabling. No big deal, but I ran out of time. I also found that Panda had forgotten to send a PAS. An email...

    IGH gears vs. derailleur

The Sturmey 5-speed hub doesn't have a good reputation, and I'm not sure about the SRAM one. The more gears, the wider the gear range - usually - and the smaller the steps between gears. That is important for me, as my knees don't appreciate big jumps in gearing. If I could afford it, I'd be...

    IGH gears vs. derailleur

I would say that it depends on the hub. My Alfine 8-speed is the best hub I have had, whereas the Nexus 7-speed I had in the 90s was awful. The Sturmey 8-speed is really only suitable for folding bikes because of the silly choice of direct drive. The SRAM/Sachs Spectro P7 is good, but hard to...

bitb more info on panda bikes pro/eco offer please?

I've just bought a Pro 700c front wheel kit in the offer. It arrived today and will get fitted at the weekend. Jimmy at BGA is making up a 17.5Ah battery with connectors to suit and that should arrive Monday or Tuesday, I hope. It's going to be fitted to my Orbit Orion that had an Electric Bike...

Review Woosh Rio MTB Review/Initial Impressions

That looks about as secure as you can get with the lock you have. You might want to get a cable lock to loop round the front wheel, but I leave my bike locked like that. As for the saddle, I don't have any faith in gel covers. Saddles are a very personal thing; some swear by Brooks' leather...

Has anyone heard anything good or bad about www.bromkit.com? No fork splaying required, but they have no eBay history.

    Oxygen S Cross E-Bike!

Fitting a set of hydraulic disc brakes - assuming the bike already has the rotors fitted - should be the work of an hour, maybe two if the mounts need changing, but if two hours they would really be taking their time.

Hello, is an ebike a suitable alternative to a expensive train commute?

Ask yourself if you'd want to be sitting on a bike in the rain for that length of time. Is there a way you can cut the cost of the commute by cycling part of the way & then putting the bike on the train? I ask, as I live in Warwickshire where transport subsidies are minimal; if I cycle a few...

    Oxygen S Cross St.

My Oxygen eMate is vastly better equipped than the Woosh I had. The build quality is similarly better too. That's not denigrating Woosh, who build to a price, but the extra money buys extra quality.

    Oxygen E mate MTB13AH

I've no idea how many miles I've done, as I vary my route so much to and from work. At a guess; eight months ownership = ~35 weeks - 5 of which the bike & I have been off the road, so 30 weeks at a conservative guess of 3 commutes per week at ~18 miles return = ~1600 miles, plus the 130 already...

    Can I buy a Das-Kit Battery case?

My Oxygen has one of these batteries. Although my battery isn't as good as it used to be, it easily handles my needs at the moment, although I am thinking of touring on the bike in the summer & need more range. I have enquired of Jimmy at BGA how much a recell would be and the price is OK, but...

    Oxygen E mate MTB13AH

Some days I'll do 20+ miles on the two trips. I always put it on charge after I get home, but I've now tried to get into the habit of waiting 20+ mins to allow the battery to recover. Read that somewhere. In the coldest winter, I lost a lot more charge, but then I was riding well below zero much...
