    Brexit, for once some facts.

I’m not saying it is a desirable situation, just that many ordinary hard working people rely on arms manufacture for their livelihood.

I’m not sure the arms industry workers would see it that way. It’s very easy to make the big gesture when it’s someone else, in this case ordinary working people, who are paying.

That can’t happen these days, China manufactures too much. I tell you what, your pension, your investments and funds will be financed to some extent by arms sales. Put your money where your gob is and forego say 10% of your income in protest. Looks very different now doesn’t it. There is...

It’s not right, but ordinary people’s jobs, future employment and pensions have been built around the arms industry. To suddenly stop would be devastating for those ordinary people and their families. It’s dead easy to take a moral tone when it’s not your job on the line, and when you have no...

The trouble with arms sales, or suddenly stopping doing so is jobs. There was a silly Labour MP on TV a few weeks ago saying that we should immediately stop selling arms to Saudi after they had chopped that Journo up. That’s very admirable, and also very easy to say when it isn’t your job going...

Answers: a) Probably isn’t a proper solicitor. If an investigation were to be launched to trace back the career path and educational route of this person, it might turn up a few surprises. Clearly isn’t fit to hold any office of public trust such as a solicitor or MP when they are prepared...

Steady on, this isn’t real, it’s only an Internet game we are playing.

I didn’t intend to downplay or undermine the effort and sacrifice made and you could well be right that they understood what was at stake. I just thought it incredibly that so many from a tiny isolated village were killed. That made me wonder where they got their motivation from, who fed them...

I was looking at a war memorial in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere last Thursday. The population could only have been 200 at the most. Amongst a surprisingly high number of casualties for such a small village, were the names of 4 young men all sharing the same surname. It’s likely they...

On the one hand you are arguing for remaining within the EU and the unrestricted free movement of people and labour which comes with that. But at the same time you are saying that as a result of free movement, "the best jobs will always go to foreign ready trained labour to the exclusion of our...

What will happen is that people with the appropriate skills will be encouraged and allowed to come to the U.K. That principle was stated at the outset. To control immigration was the plan. It’s the unskilled workers or those with skills which are in surplus that will be restricted. It’s very...

I’m not hugely well traveled, but I have visited a reasonable selection of countries as a tourist, on business and for social reasons. I can’t say that I have perceived any hostility purely because I am a U.K. resident. I don’t understand why people on here persistently make the point that the...

Maybe, maybe not. The original point made by Old Groaner was that the U.K. is unpopular. It is not and the evidence of that can be seen in the determination shown by people to get into the U.K. Old Groaner is entirely wrong.

It has everything to do with coming here. If the U.K. was a hostile and unpleasant place to live, no one would come here. I don’t know what you are on about, keeping at arm’s length. You can’t get much more intimate than going to live in a country.

The original point made by Old Groaner was that the U.K. is unpopular. He is wrong, the U.K. is liked and is a popular place. If it wasn’t and had nothing to offer, people would not go there.

Then they want to cherry pick. They want the advantages of living in the U.K. and its benevolent systems, but not have uk rule. A bit like Scotland. The fact remains then that the U.K. is popular and people want to come to the U.K. to live, to work or to use the soft touch welfare society.

The U.K. is a very popular place for people to come to. Many want to live here, so we must be very popular in the world. Not at all like you are suggesting.
