If we, ve done sums properly he will beat that by quite a margin. He is aiming for 100mph.. Its basically back end of a 7 type bike engined car and tuk Tuk steering handle bars.. It will do 100 mph (160 kmh) easy.. 4th gear???

My mate is just in process of attempting to raise Tuk Tuk speed record. He has ripped out the original motor, replaced that with a CBR1000F motor, ripped out back axle and replaced that with a Trike conversion back end. (It still looks like a Tuk Tuk) He will be at Elvington with Guinness reps...

Bikee Bike - new mid drive conversion quietly launched

My Giant has to use an app so phone can work as display. Does mean %age power settings can be user defined (upto max 350%) over the 4 settings but it's a complete PITA. Last week arrived at Peaks to use bike. Started Ride App. "you must download upgrade for app to work". No chance on mobile...

Or buy a Fireblade, fit some pedals and away you go. Or even an old TT zero.. They must be available cheap now. 38 mile range. 0 to 60 2.5 secs. Top speed??? 150 ish?? Surprised SW hasn't got one for canal banking.

Changing from hub motor to mid drive

Don't know about the 500w Bafang but I fitted a (in theory) 250w one to a Cube mtb about 18 months ago for daughter. (it's marked 250 w) and it's absolutely fine. I do think the crank drives cope better than hubbs on the 250 w limit. I don't think the Bafang feels quite as powerful as my Haibike...

Well, I can guarantee a Haibike Hard 7 will. That was exactly comment a mate made after borrowing mine. (long story but I ended up with 2 crank drive emtbs) Lent one to a friend last week who is in same situation as yourself. (ie thinking of buying one) We did what should be a long hard...

In your region I, d go crank drive. They have a much wider efficient speed range. IMHO age old adage applies. You get what you pay for. You simply can't compare climbing ability. All top brands MTB use crank drive for a reason. Some elements of this forum are obsessed with hub drives and I...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Cars getting heavier in name of safety is actually counterproductive. Besides good crash protection, as you well know, is not mutually exclusive to light weight. (smart cars are amazingly good in crash protection, as is the F1 racing pod/tub. (a light component) I strongly suspect the whole...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Totally agree with that but unfortunately that isn't way we are going (being pushed?) The development, marketing and design are converging on cars needing (in theory) 60kwh plus batteries. To my mind each of these behemoths have sufficient capacity for 2 or 3 sensible sized vehicles. Seems we...

Why bother with a paltry 3kw.Go whole hogg, buy a Fireblade, get some cloned plates on it.. Job done.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

You are obviously generally correct and without doubt we will see exponential growth (pushed on us?) in electrical transport. However, the view that the arguments are so much in favour, in all departments, of battery/BLDC/end use E motors is really missing point. Just as in F1 the mass market...

Not too sure about that. BLDC in isolation has incredible power to weight ratio. As a complete system (ie a fuel tank versus a battery) the ICE wins hands down. Got an R1 engine in my garage at moment. Dyno print out 185 BHP @ 11800 rpm. Weight 55 kg. Including exhaust, gbox, and ancils. Fuel...

    Legal Pitfalls

Yep, definitely illegal as far as pedelecs are concerned. I had a similar argument a few years ago about a log burner bought for a barge. (it too was illegal) Citizens Advice were brilliant. They got in touch with a lawyer they worked with who wrote a letter to mentioned company. They gave a...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Just been a fantastic interview with Pat Symmonds. (chemist/engineer F1 car designer) on F1 sky. Good explanation of drop in fuels, including SAF (sustainable air fuels) and pros/cons around synthetic sustainable fuels and their place in both F1 and World in general. His words "F1 will be...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Isn't it a strange world we live in. We are all seeing and some experiencing consequences of war, earth quakes, world wide economic decline and poor governance to point of incompetence. And what triggered largest number of Ofcom complaints? When Stacey Solomon suggested 2 Rabbits be moved to an...

    New Member & Planned Build

No, that's not quite right. Legal units do for short periods go beyond the 250w limit, but the motor/system is(should be) rated at 250w continuous. My current GT often shows well over 250w (most I, ve seen is 604w,it has a built in power meter) but I have never used bike and it shown an average...
