Lithium 36v ebike battery I noice some have a label attached charge battery with battery switched on. Is this important and better for the battery and is it best to charge when return from a short ride or let it run right down. Interesting to see different views tushingham2

That’s interesting so it seems to be a faulty controller. When i get a spare half hour I will set up on my bench, a controller a battery etc and do these test on a unit that i know is working. Many thanks for your helpful emails Regards Ron

Hi yes switch on, the wires are only suitable for low voltage not 40v. These are very fine wires coming from controller and connect to the display

hi the 5v is measured at the display plug coming out of the controller. the red and black from battery is reading 41 v yes those two leads 41v

The voltage check at the display connection is just 5v. Can a controller or display be tested in this way, with battery connected to controller on the workbench and display plugged in it should work or not. Do you know of a controller repair service in UK. Thanks Ron

I checked the battery voltage and also checked at the lead battery to controller both showing full voltage 40 volts

There is over 40 volts to the controller

Fully charged 41v also tried a new battery

This is bike controller i can take photo of bike and display on handlebars

I have an ebike just come in been standing in his shed 6 months, has no light on display, battery is good fully charged all wiring and connections are controller connections all good bike is only 18 months old , any pointers please ???

Just fitted a new ebike kit with a display LED 890 and it’s show a flashing just one light and not the full battery level. I have tried a new LED a different battery, a new system cable. Also tested these on another bike and all working. This is a real head scratcher
