    Advice for 20" hubs.

I believe Ben mentioned in an earlier post it had a 6 gear block, no discs on a Transition.

6061 is fairly standard stuff and to be fair shouldn't cause any problems if it's not over sprung.

C'mon Whoosh that's a direct quote, I have it in front of me now. Do you know what factory those Apollo bike were fabricated in or what grade the tubing is because I don't. Being fair the whole build may go faultlessly but who knows. You're a businessman Whoosh as I am (rtd) so have plenty of...

'There's always a first time' Besides do we know for sure no one has. Springing won't necessarily crack a frame in an instant, what it does do is weaken it's integrity. So you get some underwear but it's too small...no problem it'll stretch with wear, of course it will, but what happens to the...

    What's happened to Powacycle?

Five hundred quid for a battery! I wonder if he knows how much it costs to produce one of those in China. I can't for the life of me understand this conversion thing, I don't always agree with vrf on technical things but on this he's spot on. £500 Christ, a mate of mine has just paid £200 for an...

    Advice for 20" hubs.

No offence intended and I hope none taken but I have to say vr's advice on ali frame springing is incredibly irresponsible. Aluminium has an almost crystalline structure, it's soft but not malleable as such, that means when bent it actually cracks which results in the material eventually falling...

    Advice for 20" hubs.

I might be a pain in the R's I'll admit that , but I'm also a responsible pain and I have to say springing aluminium is a no no. I'll leave it to the experienced guys to tell you why that is.

Yeah.. I though that vid would go down well, at least the chap's still in one piece. I hope his bike is ! @ Harrys Ah, I see you have a couple of Yans bikes good choice, didn't realize you were in the states. He certainly knows how to design a good bike, rock solid no problem powering them up...

    Advice for 20" hubs.

C'mon vrf you're old school like me, you know full well where the max stress is on a folder and it's definitely not the hinge. You wont have to figure that one out...you already know (nice try though). Incidentally I got my first folder in 1973 because my GF had one, she hit the roof! Mine was...

    Advice for 20" hubs.

The Apollo Transition bike is a machine I know quite well, simple inexpensive and perfect for nipping round Tesco's and picking up the kid's from school, conversion to an e-bike, well that's a different matter. The mechanical stresses on a folding bike are very different to a traditional diamond...

    Advice for 20" hubs.

I would advise great caution at attempting to convert these bikes to electric. They're very basic mass produced for Halfords machines, somehow I can't see them standing up to the rigors of being motorized. Another thing is they sell for around £50 on flea bay, here in my town we have a market...

@ vfr400 You can get the manual without registering on their website but it only seems to be in 'Doc' format. Easy to convert though.

    Powabyke euro user manual

Go onto Google and type in " doc to pdf ". Look for the 'smallpdf' website right at the top of the list and go there. Drop your doc file into the blue window on your screen and it will convert it to a pdf that you can save. Make a note of where it saves it or you'll be searching for evermore and...

    Lux or Lumens?

Maybe it puts the fear of god in them. Just imagine using a laser rear light in foggy weather, it would look like an alien spacecraft about to set down.

    Lux or Lumens?

I've got a rear light on one of my bikes that throws laser beams down onto the road. Probably highly illegal, looks good though.
