I fitted the 250w kit from EBC and it does the job well, looks like standard Chinese parts so getting spare parts shouldn't be a problem, i was over 20 stone when I first fitted the kit and I was happy with the performance.
I recently changed from Schwalbe city jets running at 70 psi to big Apple 2.15s running at 35 psi and don't really notice any difference in the rolling resistance but there's a big difference in the quality of the ride, much more comfy.

Well after a return trip of 12miles yesterday I can confirm that the brakes are a lot better and I'll not be bothering to look at disc brakes any time soon (still not tried them in the rain though)

Pretty sure that now your told to coast when approaching a red light etc, back in the day I was taught to drop down the gears as you approached the red light, I also got taught how to go round a roundabout which is something of a lost art!!
