    Shimano XT rear mech snapped

Think I'll have to go to the LBS and ask them to source me the hanger. Once I have the part number I can then buy them elsewhere in the future.

Struggling to find the hanger as a separate item when looking online. I’m assuming they are available as a separate item?

    Shimano XT rear mech snapped

Thanks awol. I’m wondering if it might be worth getting a new mech anyway incase it’s got twisted when being dragged around the cassette. The bikes been used every day for last 2 years over 1,500 miles. I need a new chain & cassette so is it worth having a new mech at the same time?

    Shimano XT rear mech snapped

Thanks Toby. Any idea if the fixing bracket is part of the mech, or is that a separate item?

    Shimano XT rear mech snapped

Snapped my rear mech today. Looks like a link broke in the chain and dragged the rear mech around my cassette. Sounded horrible. Looking at the spec of my Cube Reaction Race it says its fitted with a Shimano XT RD-M8000-DGS ShadowPlus 11 speed rear derailleur Searching online for a...

    Ebike insurance

Bradford & Bingley want stupid money for my house insurance renewal, so in looking to switch. It would seem from this thread that LV and Esure are known to cover ebikes. Anyone know of any other house insurance providers that cover ebikes?

    Chain slipping?

I'll get the cassette changed. The cassette that came with the bike is a Shimano SLX M7000 11-46T which typically costs about £60. When last changed I went for the same again. Are there any others that should be considering?

    Chain slipping?

Maybe I will have to do this. However my bother paid good money for a cassette with separate individual sprockets, only to discover that the sprockets weren't available to purchase separately.

    Chain slipping?

The chain slipping has only started since swapping to a larger front chainring, which is why I assumed this was the cause. I fitted a brand new chain at the same time. It wasn't slipping before this, but perhaps the two smallest rear cogs had already worn, but were nicely bedded in with the...

    Chain slipping?

Yes, the original was 12T but I’ve changed it to a 15T. But I may have to switch back to the 11 now.

    Chain slipping?

My larger chain wheel only has 15 teeth. But perhaps it is the rear cogs, with gear 10 & 11 having the smallest number of teeth I guess that’s possibly the cause. At the rate I’ve been going through chains, (about every three months) if I changed the rear cassette every time at £50 a pop I...

    Chain slipping?

I've started suffering from chain slipping since recently putting a larger front chainring on my 11 speed 2018 Cube Reaction Race. It's only when i'm in 10th & 11th gear. I went from the standard 12T chainring to a 15T to get a bit more top end speed, and fitted a new chain of the same size at...

    Schwalbe Big Apples 29er

Understood, but surely the reason for having tread is for wet weather, to allow water to pass through the tyre so you don't aquaplane? Hence why F1 tyres are perfectly smooth to give maximum grip, whereas wet weather tyres have tread. Though I accept that bike tyres are maybe too narrow for...
