    Cycleplan insurance

Insurance is just a form of socially acceptable gambling, but strangely we hope never to win. But I agree with BazP, if your happy to £150 to cover say a £3k bike, then surely it makes sense to pay perhaps just £30 more and get hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of cover for your home...

    Ebike insurance

Bradford & Bingley cover my ebike both at home and away. My previous insurer refunded the remainder of the years premium when I cancelled, and the B&B policy was a similar price anyway.

    Ebike insurance

I switched my house insurance to Bradford & Bingley who happily insured my £2.5k ebike as a specified item, once I explained it was pedal assist and not throttle operated.

I visited the Cube stand at the Cycle Show in September. They told me it was for Germany only.

    Purchased a 2018 Cube Reaction Race 500

I decided to go with the Race for the better suspension and different gearing. Also, Cube told me that the Allroad model was for Germany only.

Thanks DD79, I think I need to get one. Hitting the resistance is really annoying me.

My first crash - Gear problem

And I think I need to buy a better helmet. I don’t like the normal helmets as they seem offer little protection to the side and back of your head. I’d like one that’s more like a skateboarders helmet with more protection.

My first crash - Gear problem

The funniest thing about having an 'off' is the immediate desire to get straight back on the bike as if it never happened, only to stop around the next corner to examine your injuries and damage :)

Which dongle did you go for? Im definitely accepting that a dongle must be well worth having. I do find it frustrating that as I build up to a nice cruising speed I'm suddenly hit by a wall of resistance. Im not wanting to achieve great speeds but It would be nice to be able to ride at a...

    Removing battery when locked up.

Its a shame ebikes don't come with a plastic water tight cover for when the battery is removed.

If removing the battery, what about the battery terminals being exposed to rain getting in etc?

SW, I'll give that video a watch, thanks. Typical, I've been riding bikes for years without any offs. Then I buy a £2.5k bike and crash it almost straight away!! Another good video here..

My first crash - Gear problem

Had my first off today on the ebike (Cube Reaction Race 500). Ive only had the bike a couple of weeks so it really pissed me off. I had to suddenly hop up a high kerb due to a truck squeeing me off the road. I didn't have time to slow down enough to hop my front wheel up the kerb, resulting in...

    e bikes insured at home

I switched my home insurance to Bradford & Bingley as my current insurer wouldn't cover my ebike. B&B initially said they wouldn't cover it, but when I explained it was a pedal assist bike, and didn't have a throttle they said it would be fine. I had to have it as a specified item on the policy.

    Purchased a 2018 Cube Reaction Race 500

After a few normal commutes I had to work at a different location today. Its 17 miles away and I would never attempt this on my normal pushbike. Its also quite an elevated route, with the worst of it on the route home. After a long day at work the last thing I would ever want to do is cycle home...
