Trek powerfly 4 or Cube Reaction hybrid 500?

Fork most importantly as it is very expensive to upgrade.

Returning my ebike to Decathlon tonight and here's why

Complaining wheel nuts can't be undone using adjustable spanner says lot about your mechanic skills or lack of them.

    Bosch - New eMtb mode

Had first ride where I put new eMTB mode to test. Not much of benefit on tight technical tracks but on flowing climbs with tight hairpins its assume. Power delivery is perfect, especially on tight hairpin corners.

    Tires + Tubes

If tires have TLE them then they are tubeless. One big plus of tubeless is better puncture resistance, sealant will seal any small puncture. Lots of youtube videos on it.

    Rear brake pain

Big plus of going to HS11 is long term maintenance free operation. Better braking plus lot lighter pull required especially on rear where long cable run adds more resistance and stretch. HS11 can be bit fiddly to setup initially, the online video wasn't much use in my case. Brake housing has...

    My first DIY e-bike

Given your specification, a electric motorbike is what you are after. Petrol ones are better value. Once you start going over 500-750w then you are getting into motorbike territory.

Buy in UK or in Europe

If buying factory middrive bike, Bosch, Shimano and Brose have good support in NZ. Not sure about Yamaha. There maybe option to upgrade Shimano STEP and Brose to 32km/hr cutoff in NZ when you return, not option on Bosch its 25km/h or dongle. As for rest of bike parts eg, gears, brakes etc are...

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

Wellington to top Mt Climie and return 108km 700wh. Incredible weather warm and dead calm at top. The climb is about 650m over 5kms, very steep, don't how I managed it 20yrs ago on my MTB would've been granny gear for 80%. Awesome descent on FS MTB if you don't cook your brakes. 1) south to...

    purion install guide

Thanks for thus posting. Just installed mine today, note about not undoing cable gland screw saved me lot of potential work. I found taping bit string to Intuvia cable before removing worked well, then tape string to Purion cable and pulled it through. Had one issue with Purion would always...

    Bosch 2amp charger

Mine came with european plug, very poor oversight by LBS. Had spare lead so let it slide.

How long do Kalkhoff take to replace engines?

Most of Bosch failures have been with MTB CX drive bearings from water ingress. More of issue on MTBs because they ride in mud and need to be washed regularly. New upgraded seal on later motors should help lot especially if maintained. Shouldn't issue on bikes that do mainly road riding.

    German e-bike market success

If I wanted in cheap reliable commuter I'd go for hub drive kit. For long distance riding/tour and MTBing I prefer factory middrives as I like smooth nature power delivery of torque sensing middrives. Bought my cube MTB because of excellent sale price would of preferred Merida but they weren't...

    haibike power fail

So all the chinese controllers and motors are interchangeable, use same connectors and pinouts?

    haibike power fail

Having external electronic controller and separate motor for hub drives bikes is double edge sword. Yes it is cheaper to replace components and repair if repairer has electrical back ground but not so easier for your average bike mechanic with no electrical knowledge. With Bosch middrive, most...
