    I did a continuity test from L terminal on battery plug what goes to battery to that wire with white sleeve, and it did beep so its obviously live + wire. Yes like you said who ever wired it up must be colour blind, as under that wire in white sleeve is a black wire.

    Yes regarding the cable passing through the hole in axle well god knows how previous owner managed to fit 3 thick phase wires 3 thick add on cable wires plus 5 thin sensor wires too.
