    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Wow, looks similar to the setup on the more powerful E-45 motor http://www.srsuntour-cycling.com/de/DE/e-bike/e-45-rear-motor/ Is everything else the same i.e. battery, 250w rear hub motor ?

    Charge to 80% or 100% ?

Thanks all, really appreciate your comments :-) Looks like the general concensus is to fully charge back up to 100% every time, so it's good to get that advice. I wasn't aware of the battery balancing process, so that's interesting that it happens at the end of the charge cycle, so it makes...

    Charge to 80% or 100% ?

Hello all Bit of background..My daily commute on my Crossfire-e uses approximately 40% of the battery. I have a timer plug that can run the charger for 2, 4, 8 hrs etc and then turns off the charger. I re-charge to 100% after using the bike ( I recharge it from 60% to 100% every day), so have...

    Carrera Crossfire-E battery enquiry

I also notice often that it will display the same amount of remaining battery level for a long period of time whilst using the battery, especially in 25 and 50 per cent modes, for example, at the 82, 72, 60 per cent points. Yesterday I rode about 4 or 5 miles on 50 per cent assistance and it...

    Carrera Crossfire-E battery enquiry

My crossfire-e never displays 100% after a full charge, only ever 99%, so dont worry about that. The initial loss on the display from 99% to, in my case, 93% displayed can happen in a 200 meters, then it can take 2 miles or so to drop the same amount, so I have come to the conclusion that's it's...

I swapped the stock Kendas for Schwalbe Energizer Plus 700 x 35c, at £10.99 from SJS Cycles. Roll really nicely, good grip, 800km no punctures. Run them at about 80psi

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

cheers d8veh for the reassurance. I'll stick it on charge after the daily commute. I did buy one of these, it works well, flick the switch on either 2,4,8 hrs (half a charge is either 2 or 4hrs) and forget, knowing that it'll stop charging after the pre-select time...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Thanks Rob. I use mine 3 days a week to commute, so that's 3 x half a charge per week, so the equivalent of 78 full charges per year. The Suntour HESC battery on the Crossfire-e has a minimum spec of 500 charges, that equates to 6.4 years life, but as you say the passing of time will have an...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Yes, sunil, 11 miles round trip, 5.5 miles each way. There's a very big hill on the way, when I'm full assistance that alone can use 15%. The most I've got so far on one charge including that big hill is 45 miles total. That's using either 25 or 50% assistance, will the odd 75% assistance for...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Quick question rather than starting a new thread, I've got a crossfire-e, very happy with it. My daily commute is 11 miles, couple of really big hills, stick it on 100% assistance, get to work cool and relaxed...get home with about 55% battery remaining, so I can easily do 2 days on a full...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Thanks for the info. Interesting enough I did check the grip levels on the schwalbe website, and these were rated higher than the marathons (which I'm happy with on my non e bike) and the marathon pluses. Will take it easy in the wet and try and gauge wet grip limits, cheers

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

yep, crossfire-e. No problems either fitting on the rim or running them, only had them on a few days, done about 40 miles or so, even some light off road gravel, no issues, running them at about 80 psi, hence why they roll well. I think the 40c's will be fine too (the raleighs run them here...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

I put a couple of 700 x 35c Schwalbe Energizer Pluses on my corssfire-e last week, the bike rolls much better, with better road grip. Weight wise only about 50g more per tyre that the stock Kenda's, but you can feel the extra thickness in the puncture protection belt in the tyre. I picked them...

    Carrera Crossfire-E in the rain

Hi Art, Rode my Crossfire-e into work today, started off drizzle, but was lashing it down after half way, so 15 mins of solid rain. Bike didn't skip a beat, no problems at all, and I haven't got any of it covered up, apart from mudguards I have fitted yesterday (good timing) Love this bike so...

    New e-bike owner

Thanks Grey and Rob for the tips. Did about 40 miles today on the new bike, still got that boyish smile on my face, similar to the one I had when I bought my first moped at the age of 16 back in the 80's, lol. Decided to go with the energizers in the end, £11 each plus p&p at SJS cycles, at that...

Thanks guys for the welcome and advice. I caved in and nipped out earlier on the bike. I did my commute run with the monster long uphill. I was laughing out loud all the way up the hill. Arrived quickly at my workplace cool and not a drop of sweat despite it being a hot day today. Been...

Hello all Just picked up my first e-bike from Halfords, the Carrera Crossfire-e. Managed to get a great deal on it, £720 after British Cycling membership discount on top of current Halfords 20% off all bikes. I'm a long time cyclist, own road and hybrid bikes already, the e-bike purchased for...
