Bad start to the year for cyclists in Scotland

Tell that to Glasgow City Council (GCC)....their planners are fuckin morons, you just have to cycle around the city centre to see how they have f*cked it for cars in many areas (obviously the lazy plan...), but at same time also managed to make certain bike lanes extremely...

E-scooters 'are five times safer than bikes' - Study by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents

The original story is clearly a lot of old b0ll0x - BBC London evening news ran a story on this evening on how eScooters are more dangerous then eBikes...who do you believe??

    Where to buy 48v battery

Do you know what cells are in it, for the price is seems very cheap, I would avoid 'Top Quality' cells....and stick with branded cells however you need to be sure that you actually get them. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392942256513?hash=item5b7d2f0181:g:GxcAAOSwNm5iT-oT

    Bike Stands

I tried the stand again lifting up ebike with help, after fiddling with stock clamp it will hold ebike in place vertically! I'd like it maybe 6 inches higher so will try that too at some point. So it will take 24.5kg (weight of my bike) as it's rated for 30kg however not going to try the max by...

    Bike Stands

OK, I see what you mean, attach jubilee clamp where I've marked in yellow (or further down tube for more height) or so it's TIGHT against vertical tube, this should then stop slippage, will probably need to be careful and not over-tighten the clip when wrenching tight Thanks, will give it a go...

    Bike Stands

Thanks, I'll have a look at that, not sure if it's possible though with the stand I have as I'd need to clamp the plastic part (that I fear under hose clamp pressure will snap), to the metal tube. I shall try this as I do have 99.9% IPA that I use to clean the bed on my printer, good idea, thanks!

    Bike Stands

I had a quick play with the stand tonight, if the horizontal clamp on the top tube is moved closer to rear the bike will site almost horizontal, any further over towards the front of bike and rear wheel drops down. Interestingly the vertical tube at the back has been moved up an inch or so and...

    Bike Stands

Do you know what weight your ebike is (I weighed mine holding bike on bathroom scales then subtracted my weight)? That Halfords stand you linked is rated for 25kg load, will it actually hold that weight with no slippage? I bough this one here from amazon about a yr ago and used it a lot to prep...

    Bike Stands

It's unlikely that the stand (I have similar from amazon), will be strong enough vertical locking so for me when my rear hub is on the bike (1500W), I cannot raise the stand as it's too heavy for the screw locks to hold and main stand tube slides down to min height meaning bike is not really...

Bad start to the year for cyclists in Scotland

It's always been a dodgy left turn at the Riverboat when crossing the Clyde from the South, even in a car many idiots/larger vehicles swing wide or too tight for their lane and council have managed to make it even more dangerous for all especially bikes by narrowing that junction again and again...

    eBike for 14yr Old Kid

Some good points above, I saw an article on a kid that gone done in UK and got 6 points on his future license, as you say that alone is a good enough reason to go with a legal 250W rear hub that will pass a cop once over and see what subtle trickery can be done to allow it to hit 25mph.

    eBike for 14yr Old Kid

Thanks. We don't do any off-roading, infact I avoid even bumping over kerbs on my ebike even at slow speeds when we're out as don't want to upset the heavy battery on the drinks holder or anything else tbh. Will have to have a think about the way forward and do some proper research.

    eBike for 14yr Old Kid

OK, thanks for the info. I want to keep this looking legal and don't want him to have the hassle of worrying about gearing so more I think about this I think a 250W rear hub on donor MTB with a controller that can handle 48V and the current draw may be the way to go? I don't want to spend the...

    eBike for 14yr Old Kid

Yes, I hear what you're saying, 15.5mph is pretty rubbish however for longer trips I can see him taking an interest, at moment 1hr out on bikes with hills and he's pretty tired and he's a very fit lad, plays football 4 times a week for local club and school. I still have nightmares about my own...

    eBike for 14yr Old Kid

My son turned 14 last week, over the weekend we both cycled, got train then more cycling to visit his grand parents and I was explaining what an ebike is to them (both in 80s...). Anyway got a call tonight from them and they asked if he's like an ebike for Christmas, initial thoughts were no...
