Can anyone recommend a good bike for hill climbing and distance

I've got a £40 NCX post (from a German website) I can't fault it, the best bike related £40 I've ever spent. I believe the newer version is slightly lighter & can be had for around £74. I don't know about the thudbuster but when I was researching my post people seamed to prefer the NCX, I think...

    Website update is bad

I hadn't even noticed the "finding my wheels" thing until reading this thread and now I'm not impressed. It sounds like your talking to a toddler at play school  Howsabout "Charging battery's" "Still charging" "Fully charged" Etc :)

    Test of image posting

I think I passed that man this afternoon ;) He was coming up the same hill I was freewheeling down and grunted a response to my hello, it wasn't a happy one.

Rim width and tyre width, also which tyre?

Looks like we are all singing the same song:) I've just put a pr of Schwalbe Smart Sam plus 2.1" on 700c x 19 rims. They work a charm with no performance issues but the frame/fork clearance is down to 1/2" (12mm) around the tyres. Another unexpected bonus;) They roll as well as the city tyres...

    Website update is bad

I thought it was my eyes going, I've been messing with the brightness on my I-Pad trying to make it all clear. The main text (like what I'm typing now) is clear enough but there's other bits of text that's to faint for me. I use my I-pad for everything these days and if I find something hard to...

    Bored

Bored of the weather and can't be asked to make stuff in my machine shop/dank shed :D Thinks ! I'll "high-vis" my black Windproof jacket. Just to be different, I came up with this:p

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I've just squeezed 18miles in hoping to bed my new disc in a bit. Anywho, I'm cooling down now and realised just how wet I am. ;) That's me off for a sauna :p

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Not my views, but those I've seen on product reviews and other bike forums. Bottom line, the max pressure you can apply on the leaver is the same for both types of brake, it's down to mechanical losses by the time that pressure reaches the pads. On paper a hydraulic system should always be...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Eddie I'm not as brave as you, anymore;) well done. I spent a good part of the day fitting my new brakes. A Shimano roller brake in the rear, nice soft feel & will lock the wheel if you pull hard enough (on Tarmac) :) The front required a new wheel in order to have a disc break and as Halfords...

    Fabulous cycle lanes

Best laugh I've had in quite a while. A local business park has a burger van and they set there tables out over the cycle path, a pain in the summer when he's buissy, but I don't care anymore, after seeing what council's think acceptable.

Just do it, you know it makes sense. But seriously, the first time hurts, but once you've lost your mud cherry, you'll be loving it. After all, why have the kit if your not going to use it :)

What to do with my Agattu

Cheers Flecc, the roller has been ordered and I'm now deliberating over the unseen internet wheel or £10 more for one from my local halfords Halfords | Front 700c Bike Wheel in Black

    cheap answer to second battery?

could this little device be the answer to the long commute/recreational ride.....or flat battery in the car or the phone, or ipad?? 1/ long commute/recreational ride ? Well it's only 12 volts, so maybe not. 2/ flat battery in the car ? It could do the job but a 3s lipo battery from Hobbyking @...

What to do with my Agattu

Cheers Pat. good idea but the more I look into it the more individual parts are needed ! My 7spd hub doesn't have disc fittings, so would need another adaptor. But a roller brake drops straight on, I've read some good reviews and if I order within two hours it's £19.99 :) back end sorted

What to do with my Agattu

Nice one, I'd never thought of Rollerbrakes. I've spotted this for £20, I may need to engineer a bracket as it's for braze on mounts ( I have a lathe/mill ) Shimano Nexus Nexave Inter-M IM70 rear roller brake BR-IM70-R in Silver/Black | eBay For the front, a disc brake for £10 Halfords | Clarks...

What to do with my Agattu

I'm back again with my 7spd Agattu:) Striped back, lights, rack, mudgards all gone and some lovely smart sam plus tyres (2.1"). I just love it ! But rim breaks + mud, suck big time. When I'm not picking mud out (because it's bad enough to slow me down) I'm sure I can feel the rims getting...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I had muddy sections like that on my trail and it's a pain, with my rim breaks doubly so. I did stop a few times to poke it out with a stick  I've been looking at better forks and disc breaks but then I realised how much it would cost and it would still be a compromise
