Interesting viewing, although it looks like they identify issues with other motors as well. Through this forum, I sense that the Bosch units are good but unserviceable outside their own network. I don’t know whether Brose are good or bad in the overall reliability stakes. What about Yamaha ?

Does anyone know much about the reliability, or otherwise, of the Brose motors ? They crop up in reviews as being quiet due to them using belts. I’m assuming these are internal components based on images of the bikes they’re fitted to but are they a weak point ? What do other motors, such as...

This looks decent for the money. Plenty of spares available and a good review from ebiketips https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/27-5-electric-mountain-bike-e-st-900/_/R-p-168875

While I’m happy enough with the MiRider foldable bike for shortish rides, I’ve got half an eye towards the summer and some proper days out on 25+ mile rides. The great thing is that the MiRider has shown me that I was more capable than I thought and at least I’ve been out and about. I’d like...

    Review MiRider One

I discovered the upside to battery sag - when you stop for a break, the battery recovers. Halfway around our usual circuit, I was down to 2 bars but after a beer and a natter, I had 3 bars !

    Review MiRider One

As it happens we genuinely do ride together as we lack the discipline to do it otherwise. We’re also lucky enough to live within a few hundred yards of the Trans Pennine Trail and it makes sense (well at our age anyway) to ride on a buddy system. Luckily we’ve only had punctures to deal with but...

    Review MiRider One

Back on the topic of the MiRider One batteries, I’ve found that the original has around 15% less endurance than the second battery I purchased but, as I’ve still only done around 120 miles in total, I’ll see how they fare in the summer. I don’t fully understand why a MiRider battery would wear...

    Review MiRider One

I agree. Having spent 3 years working over there, I soon discovered that they don’t say ”no” to the boss but they don’t necessarily do what they said “yes” to. And whatever you do, don’t cause any loss of face !

    One of three (I think!!)

Vanmoof will crop up as it‘s in a lot of the consumer electronics magazines such as T3, Stuff etc. I doubt they’ve been ridden or reviewed by the magazine staff as it’ll probably be a cut and paste from another source or advertorial.

My MiRider comfortably takes my 13.5 stone up two lengthy hills near me With ghost pedalling (as my ankle won’t take full pressure). I either use level 5 assistance or the throttle boost at lower assistance levels.

    Ebike subsidy coming ?

As with much of what this government leak via the press, it’s unlikely to be new money rather a rehash of the cycle to work scheme. There are telling phrases in the article re work clothes etc. It’s a good scheme if you can take advantage of it and you have free choice of what and where you buy...

    Cycling. Health. Covid. Diet.

One other driver was an ex-work colleague of the same age who was diagnosed pre-diabetic and this is the diabetes reversing regime. I’m not a foodie, so eat when I need to. My usual regime was 3 alcohol free days and a reasonably healthy diet but the weight crept up. We have a takeaway on...

    Cycling. Health. Covid. Diet.

I did the Michael Moseley Blood Sugar Diet at the beginning of 2017 when I was fast approaching 14 st and a BMI of 30. I basically followed the 800 calories a day and cut out bread and alcohol for 8 weeks - the exception being Saturday when I’d have a curry (no rice) with Chapati and a couple...

    Help! Checking Charger Output

I ended up emailing Sealey and they came back and said it was most likely to be symptomatic of the battery failing so, as they’re under £20 and the existing battery is at least 5 years old (possibly up to 10), I bought another. Having left the old one on charge for 24 hours i measured the...

    Help! LED lights

Just a hunch, but it like it’s a device for stepping down the voltage from 48-96 volts to 12 volts. I’m guessing they call it a module so it sounds more techie. chicken madras before you ask.

    Help! Checking Charger Output

Never heard of him. Might Google later. Anyway, prodded a bit of solder wire into the socket, connected to the washer and mains, and LED went green before the power was switched on - clearly no diodes other than the light emitting indicator - so I took that to be progress as it meant a...

    Help! Checking Charger Output

The output is 14.5 Volts (which checks out) at 1 Amp (the bit I want to check). The only fuse in the system is on the cigarette lighter input which presumably carries a heavier current (and has thicker wire) as it drives the unit directly. My only other thought is that the centre pin on the...

    Help! Checking Charger Output

Lol. The charger has an LED indicator which shows red when charging and green when the battery is fully charged or if it’s not connected but plugged in. When I first plug the charger into the wall socket, but not the Sealey, it glows green as expected. I then plug it into the Sealey and it...
