Visiting that link, I see no posts visible, and this message: 'Hi everyone, this Thursday 29th Sept our hosting company is moving us to a new server. This means Pedelecs will be down for part of the day. Thanks, Russ. Update: We're still waiting for the migration so this may run into Friday...

Hall Sensors make PAS Sensors defunct?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hall_effect_sensor The image on that Wikipedia page is probably what your PAS is - a circle of magnets, say 10 or 12, passing by a Hall sensor, firing off impulses to tell your motor the pedals/wheels are rotating, and at what rate they're turning I'm sure there...

Do titanium handlebars absorb much shock?

I know you shouldn't trust an individual review, but the second one down says: 'Very well made, wide and strong. Only issue is that it’s very stiff and it transmits all the bumps to your body unless you’re got a suspension fork. ' I suspect you're paying for reduced weight rather than more...

Dangerous e-bike chargers found on Amazon and eBay

    > The charity looked at the mains plugs in the charging devices and said that all were so visually substandard that no test purchasing was necessary. An image (in the original article) of the offending mains plug would have been helpful. Or did I miss it?

    Best £1500-2000, derestrictable e-bike?

Very minor detail, but you won't be to stick it on a plane - it will have to go via ship only - because of the battery, so you might do better to sell it here and buy again in the US.

Grant Shapps wants a speed limit for cyclists

I think the problem here is that there's a bike lane marked, which falsely hints at there being enough space. The driver is staying well away from the cycle lane lines whilst passing (you can see he swings back in a little, having passed). He probably considers he's done a reasonable overtake...

    Cameras for safety & insurance

In the UK you still have to wear a helmet on a C1*. That's one reason. The other reasons were that it was heavy & slow, and really expensive even for a BMW (like their current electric CE 04 scooter, from £12,270!). Not really aimed at mass production, these were more for your rich inner city...

Grant Shapps wants a speed limit for cyclists

I'm not stubborn, flecc - just pedantic. Or pedallic. Or something. ;) Agreed the Highway Code is not law - but as we both know, any rule with 'MUST' or 'MUST NOT' is backed up by a referenced law. Both rules 69 and 124 have 'MUST' / 'MUST NOT' in them. Which of the referenced laws takes...

Grant Shapps wants a speed limit for cyclists

Interesting links, agreed - thanks! However, I'd argue it's not clear cut in your favour. Here's the clash of rules: Rule 69 (specifically for cyclists): You MUST obey all traffic signs and traffic light signals. Rule 124 (general rule backed up by a table): You MUST NOT exceed the maximum...

Grant Shapps wants a speed limit for cyclists

What made you think the legislation doesn't already apply to cycles?! A 20mph limit is for any vehicle, not just motorised ones. Enforcement is a different matter of course. There are better thing to enforce, IMHO.

Daily Express - Cycle lanes torn apart by readers for ‘increasing congestion’ and ‘narrowing roads’

Cycle lanes torn apart by readers for ‘increasing congestion’ and ‘narrowing roads’ CYCLE LANES have not contributed to improving road safety, according to a new poll of Express.co.uk readers. Snippet: In a poll that ran from 11am on Thursday, August 5, to 3pm on Tuesday, August 16...

Help! Cannot find a bike for someone my size in UK at all!

The average EU bike recommended max is usually 120Kgs. I know because I'm close to the limit, and had to check out various models. So your average modern bike won't do, as you've surmised. You might want to consider a cargo ebike for the time being, since they're built for extra weight. An...

It's worth nothing that if Michael Green Grant Shapps does engage his brain when talking he's not a trustworthy person. Read the Business Ventures section: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grant_Shapps#Business_ventures 'over-firmly denied' is up there with the famous Spycatcher-related phrase...

Grant Shapps wants a speed limit for cyclists

In statistical terms, injury and death of pedestrians by bicycle compared to cars is insignificant (and I do understand the campaigning individual who's parter died would disagree - statisics aren't sympathetic). From the 2020 stats (RAS40004.xlsx): Pedestrians hit by [bicycle] 288 of...
