Bike too long to mount on a carrier?

Fair point. I should be comparing the width of the bike with the width of the car, including the wing mirrors. That should bring the difference down considerably, if not even eliminate it.

Bike too long to mount on a carrier?

Good thinking. That should sort out one of the protruding sides, but not the other. My main problem now is even getting it onto the (cheap!) carrier I bought. I may have to "bite the bullet" and go for one of those Thule things but I don't think even one of those will solve the "sticking out"...

Bike too long to mount on a carrier?

That's part of my problem. I've just bought the Big Bear from Woosh. Great bike but removing the front wheel (with motor) isn't a realistic option. I have got one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-CAR-TOWBAR-TOWBALL-MOUNTED-FOLDING-2-CYCLE-BIKE-CARRIER-/371268154567?hash=item56714e74c7 -...

Bike too long to mount on a carrier?

Now its me that is confused! The ones I'm looking at currently are the ones that fit on the tow bar. Looking at the length of my bike and comparing to the width of the car, the bike is going to be wider than the car, so some of the bike will stick out on either side of the car. (The other type -...

Bike too long to mount on a carrier?

Indeed! Not so much not hitting things more REMEMBERING not to hit things. I well remember having the kids bikes on one of those racks that lie across the back of the car, reversing in the rain and burning the rear wiper motor out when it kicked in automatically and the wiper got caught in the...

Bike too long to mount on a carrier?

Just checking. The length of my bike is such that, if I mount it on a bike carrier fixed to my tow bar, its too "wide" for the car. i.e. extends a bit on either side of the car. Clearly something to be very aware of when traveling but, more importantly, I was wondering whether its actually...

    Hopper SE - Bargain?

I looked into powering up my ebike by getting a 36v 10ah replacement battery but I understand (thanks to d8veh's advice) that its not always so easy to upgrade the battery

    Hopper SE - Bargain?

I bought this one from Tesco about 18 months ago: http://www.tesco.com/direct/hopper-shopper-electric-bike-blue/761-4756.prd Now no longer available it seems but similar to the one you are looking at. Its a brilliant introduction to ebikes. I believe they are almost exactly the same as the...

    Cycling GPS handlebar mounts

Thanks again. I take your point re the angles. Getting one that fits snuggle on 22.5mm diameter handlebar isnt so easy either. I assume you have no problem with the Mio being crooked when mounted on the actual mount (as opposed to the angle issue when the mount is then put on the handlebars? Its...

    Cycling GPS handlebar mounts

Thanks. I tend to agree re the quality. Having looked into it further, I'm a bit concerned that some of the Garmin mounts seem to have the slot/fixing for the GPS at a different place on the "clockface" to the one on the Mio - which may mean the Mio ends up being mounted at an angle.

    Cycling GPS handlebar mounts

Anyone know whether a handlebar mount for a Garmin would also fit a Mio Cyclo? For example the SRAM ones.

    Bright Lights

Thanks. Unfortunately, I'm not confident enough to start tinkering with any wiring associated with my battery (well, not at this stage, while my "soon to be delivered" Big Bear is still under warranty). It'll have to be something with its own battery.

    Bright Lights

I'm not averse to buying items from China (and waiting for them to arrive) so am very interested in these. However, my real interest is in finding a light/system that DOESN'T have to be fitted to the handlebars but can go on the front forks (or somewhere). This is because my handlebars are...

Tow bar carrier for single ebike

I need to find a way of transporting an e-bike I'm about to purchase (I've had folding bikes in the past and they have fitted in the back of my hatchback). I already have a tow bar so it probably makes sense to go for that type. I only need one that can take a single bike (though most seem to be...

    Sat Nav for cycling

Apologies - I wasn't implying that GPS on a smartphone wasn't free - I had no idea whether it was, or it wasn't. I just wanted to put in "(free)" re the Mio in case there was any confusion with that approach/device. Anyway, thanks for the info re the GPS being free on smartphones. That will...

    Sat Nav for cycling

I'm with you on this one Chris. I plan a route (I use RouteYou) then download it onto my Mio Cyclo. The Mio is then fixed to handlebars and, using (free) GPS the Mio shows me where I am and flags up next turn etc etc. If I wander off the route (following my nose as it were) it''ll take me back...

But making and receiving phone calls not listed?! (OK, OK - those would be covered by "it can do a lot more than that", I know). Looks like I will have to explore a bit more of modern technology!
