Bigbear or Sunbear, that is the question.

Sorry, cant answer that. I've only ever used the throttle just to check that it works. I always pedal as well. I think relying on the throttle alone is far more demanding on the battery than even just a bit of pedalling. However, I've no doubt it could cope quite well just on the throttle, but...

Hopper Urban SE Electric Bike (Viking Harrier) from Tesco

Feels like a "proper" bike! I use my bike in all sorts of places (forests, tracks etc etc - never for shopping) and the Hopper Shopper does get some strange looks - especially from the "lycra brigade" (who, I have to say, are quite an unfriendly lot - or maybe its just me). The big difference is...

Bigbear or Sunbear, that is the question.

Having upgraded to a Big Bear about 2 months ago, I can certainly recommend it. No problems so far and it is SO powerful. I do agree about the wheel spin. Spin can also happen when pedalling and starting off on speed setting No 3, especially if going up a small incline - presumably because all...

Hopper Urban SE Electric Bike (Viking Harrier) from Tesco

The Tesco Hopper Shoppers are a great introduction to ebiking. I bought one about 18 months ago and was so pleased with it that I immediately bought a second one. They can both be folded up and loaded up into the back of my Skoda Octavia Hatchback - great for when myself and my wife want to...

    Best book on bikes

Well, having had a look around, but being impatient, I opted for what looks like a bargain. Latest edition (admittedly 2nd hand) of Bike Repair Manual by Chris Sidwell for £5.96 (free p&p). Will feedback (if I remember) on the extent to which it suited me as a total novice.

Pain in sensitive bits when cycling

Not sure they protect quite the same "bits" but I rarely go on a long cycle ride without ensuring I put on my gel underpants beneath my trousers! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Women-Men-Bike-Bicycle-Cycling-Underwear-Briefs-3D-Gel-Padded-Underpants-Shorts-/261554441802?var=&hash=item3ce5dc0e4a

Probably sick of these by now? Which bike...

I can certainly recommend the Woosh Big Bear. £849. http://www.wooshbikes.co.uk/?bigbear I'm sure others with more knowledge and experience will also have suggestions. For what its worth, here's my "review": http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/woosh-big-bear-first-impressions.21917/ (And...

Cheap but serviceable tow ball racks

Well, I took the plunge (on a strict "if it doesn't fit, can I have a full refund" basis) and bought the Exodus 2 bike tow-bar mounted cycle carrier from Halfords (under £60). As I'll only ever use it to carry one electric bike it can certainly take the weight (although I'll be carrying the...

Woosh Big Bear - First impressions

I took delivery of my Big Bear from Woosh a couple of weeks ago. However, as I've been away for a week, I've only had a chance to complete 3 rides (5 miles, 24 miles and 40 miles). Anyway, I thought I'd feedback some first impressions. Before I do so, I should make it clear that this bike is...

    Best book on bikes

Thanks - and apologies if I'm reinventing an existing thread(s). Yes, I had seen that one and it looks quite good and reasonably up to date (2012). Might go for it but I'm going to hang on a bit and see if there are other suggestions to consider also.

    Best book on bikes

I've only recently rediscovered cycling so my knowledge of bikes is rooted in my cycling days as a teenager - and books weren't very often on my activity list in those days. So....my knowledge of bikes is not only very rudimentary but, more importantly, is only about bikes as they were in the...

    Tow bar bike carriers

Thanks Jim, my thoughts entirely. They dont look that strong and, from memory, I think the maximum weight of bike they recommend is lower than the weight of my Big Bear.

    Tow bar bike carriers

I'm very interested in this option but I'm not sure how adaptable it is to use with an electric bike (Big Bear) that doesnt have a conventional crossbar. Any thoughts or experience?

Cheap but serviceable tow ball racks

    Just checking.......I assume its a non-starter?

Cheap but serviceable tow ball racks

This is getting interesting. Looks like it might be worth exploring? I'm currently researching tow bar carriers - but I need to be sure that whatever I end up with can cope with the Big Bear. Although I cant see me ever loading two bikes, it seems that that no-one does a "quality" carrier for a...

Cheap but serviceable tow ball racks

Sounds like (almost) a deal. Unfortunately I'm up on Anglesey but, if I'm ever down your way (and you still have it - and I haven't found anything), I'm sure we could agree on a deal. Chances are, however, that I'll have sorted something by then. Its frustrating always having to start my cycling...

Cheap but serviceable tow ball racks

I only have one electric bike that I need to transport and I'm too miserly to pay the higher prices for the Thules, Spinders, Ueblers etc of this world. (I know, false economy?). Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of cheaper ones like the Pro-User Silverbike and the B'Twin...

Bike too long to mount on a carrier?

Not a bad idea though - especially at night. Great pic - looks pretty much the same sort of length/size as I'll be carrying, so that has certainly put my mind at ease.

Bike too long to mount on a carrier?

Thanks Jonathan for your help. I tend to agree. Clearly the main thing (given that the legal aspect isn't an issue) is to be aware of the extra width when maneuvering. Just need to find a reasonably priced but practical means of carrying it.
