50 milers are a bit out of my league at the moment but thanks for the encouragement and your original reports on the FreeGo Eagle. I found these invaluable. Happy Eagling!

Regular exercise on an electric bike pays dividends

I recently attended a talk on dementia given by leading researcher Dr David Llewellyn of Exeter University. Dementia costs Britain £23bn a year, that is more than cancer and heart disease combined, but it receives a fraction of the funding. Britain ignoring its dementia crisis, Oxford study...

What is the best legal crank drive bike available?

eddio, I am confident that our more rational, intelligent and perceptive members/readers are more than capable of seeing beyond your insulting drivel and judging the Tonaro on its merits for themselves.

hello from the Sierra Nevada, España.

Hi Squeezy, The crank-driven bikes like the Tonaro generally have a better weight distribution than the hub-driven ones, since their motors are placed centrally in the frame. Don't worry about the battery at the rear.

What is the best legal crank drive bike available?

eddio, I am pleased that you are enjoying your new ave mh7. Opinions are like like rectal orifices, everybody has one and you are entitled to your's. However, that does not give you the right to be unpleasantly derogatory about somebody else's choice of electrical bike. Vive la...

    Puncture repairs

Before I ask the question, I can guess that the reply may well be, “Always carry a spare inner tube”. The question is, which good quality tyre levers and feather-edged patches can members recommend? This should be under another heading. Please feel free to move it.

Before you buy a new electric bike-some important considerations

I have learned a great deal on these invaluable Pedelecs forums in a very short time from the many knowledgeable contributors who know a lot more about electrical bikes than me. I am extremely grateful to all those who have helped me and I would now like to return the favour for those planning...

    What e-bike for the Highlands?

TheGardener, If you have a search of these forums and elsewhere you will see that the Tonaros are held in high regard by many Pedelecs forums members, whether they own one or not. I am sure that you have read the technical description of the Tonaro Bighit here: Bighit - Our Products The 7...

Cyclamatic: The Beastamatic is dead! Long live the Beastamatic

I have been advised by FreeGo to deep discharge the batteries for the first couple of times and then top up when required, at least once a month.

Basic noob question re 15mph limit.

flecc, You are correct about the original Shimano fitting. It is a Megarange Hyperglide HG 14-34T freewheel. It seems as though the 11-34T version was discontinued by Shimano a year or two ago, much to the annoyance of many bikers who are desperate to find them. I guess that I had better...

Basic noob question re 15mph limit.

d8veh & flecc Many thanks for that useful information. In my case my FreeGo Eagle has the 7 speed Shimano Derailleur with ultra-low 1st gear, as per one of the photos on here: http://www.axcess-electric-bikes.co.uk/electric-bikes/freego-eagle I would like to just change the 14T top gear to...

Basic noob question re 15mph limit.

I find the same thing on the flat with my FreeGo Eagle which has 7 gears (Shimano). I bought this ebike primarily to go up hills, so I am not really complaining. In an ideal world I would like a 9 gear cassette but obviously that would be too wide to fit inside the rear forks. What bike do...

Cycle Show 2012 at the NEC, Birmingham

This event is probably mentioned on another thread somewhere but it may be useful for new ebike adopters who can hold fire on their purchase for a few weeks. There may even be some attractive “Show only” deals. All those who are contemplating the purchase of a new electric bike could do worse...

FreeGo Eagle-my first electric bike and advice for wannabie ebikers

Greetings to all on the Pedelecs forums from a new member. I live in the outermost reaches of West Wales, so doing a “test drive” on several different demonstrator bikes at my nearest large ebike dealer would have involved a time-consuming round trip to Cardiff, Bristol or Buckley, near...
