Third Tongsheng TSDZ2 installation. Too much assist for too much of the time!?

It will only work with the correct controller/motor. Has to be the one with the 8 pin display lead. Probably a good idea to fit a brake sensor as well for safety reasons. Plugs in as above.

    Strange Battery problem

Thanks for the ideas. it looks like a damaged cell or cells. It just about gets me into town and back so it is still useful and means I can leave it on the bike without worries.

    Strange Battery problem

Hi, I have an old Panda 36V battery with what to me seems a strange problem. The battery is faulty and has very low capacity. When charging it only charges to 37.6V. The green light comes on the charger and the charger output measures 42 v when removed from the battery. The battery has an enable...

Help! Mid-drive conversion, losing those front gears.

Hi, I fitted a TSDZ2 with 42T chain ring to my old Dawes hybrid going from 21 gears to 7. Hills are not a problem, it does have a wide ratio low gear but I rarely have to use it. Originally I overrode the max speed limit to about 20Mph and you have to pedal quite fast to achieve this so max...

    TSDZ2 & VLCD5 settings saving?

Interesting, from the comments it is not clear whether the problem is that you cannot program the new controller with the OSF software or whether it will not operate once programmed. From the later comments I would guess that you cannot program the OSF software since they reference a change to...

    TSDZ2 & VLCD5 settings saving?

If you mean configuration settings like wheel diameter they should stay when powered off, so either the display is faulty or you have missed a step in the setting process. Things like last power may not be permanent. Are the odometer and trip values resetting ?

Experiences with Open Source Firmware on the Tongsheng TSDZ2

130mm is definitely too long. I made the same mistake and nothing worked until I shortened them to 10-20 mm

Experiences with Open Source Firmware on the Tongsheng TSDZ2

The forum is active I have posted questions and got prompt answers that may be worth a try. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=98281

Experiences with Open Source Firmware on the Tongsheng TSDZ2

I have never experienced any run on but have fitted the e-brake switches as a precaution. Apologies for asking an obvious question but have you enabled the " startup assistance without pedaling option in the config tool"

Help! TSDZ2 throttle & e brake info please

It is possible to configure the OSF for brake operation and not enable the throttle. I would always install e-brakes with this system as an extra safeguard although they are not needed in normal operation.

Can anyone recommend a good crimper?

I have only used them with signal wires. They melt with the application of a hair drier but are much too hot to touch after the joint has set. If it is a good joint then surely it will not be getting hot anyway.

Can anyone recommend a good crimper?

Not a crimper but for effort free soldering and insulation these work well https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150x-Solder-Seal-Sleeve-Heat-Shrink-Butt-Wire-Connectors-Waterproof-Terminals-/284451326486

Experiences with Open Source Firmware on the Tongsheng TSDZ2

I guess it all depends on what you mean by bricking it. My understanding is that the ST6 bootloader resides in the rom area of the chip and cannot be overwritten. There may be option byte settings that can be miss-set not sure about this. That being so it should always be possible to download...

Experiences with Open Source Firmware on the Tongsheng TSDZ2

I think you are going about it in the right way it does pay to be cautious. The main reasons for the programming process going disastrously wrong are a loss of power or connection in the middle of the programming operation, you have to be quite unlucky. One warning when you wire up the...

    3D printer recommendations?

The input to most printers is gcode. You need a slicer program to translate a SLT or other format file to the gcode that the printer will work with. The slicer program is the main tool for preparing designs for your particular printer. Excellent free programs are available Cura being one example.

    3D printer recommendations?

I have had an ender 3 for some time and have added a few modifications to improve it. Apart from useful things like box's , small lino printing press and rc boat I have printed lots of scanned objects. Useful u tube channel for advice https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsdc_0ZTXikARFEn2dRDJhg...

Calibrating The Torque Sensor On A TSDZ2 in simple English

I have never tried todo this but... if you are using the open source version of the firmware that uses the stock VCDL5 display then the manual may give more sensible instructions than the page you referenced. Manual is here https://github.com/emmebrusa/TSDZ2-Smart-EBike-1/tree/master/manuals

    850c or 860c for TSDZ2?

The two links I listed at the beginning thoroughly document the process. There are also numerous threads on this site that show the process this being a good example https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/experiences-with-open-source-firmware-on-the-tongsheng-tsdz2.39384/ Pretty sure another...

    850c or 860c for TSDZ2?

In my case I changed the software largely out of interest to see the effect and because I like fiddling with things. It does improve the performance and make the bike nicer to ride but not to a huge extent and is possibly unwise if you are not at least familiar with electronics. There is not too...
