    Real Bicycle Bells

I have to say I like the Crane brass bell, but have noticed for several years bells as a cycle warning are not that best received by pedestrians, even if they effectively warn. I perceive they are seen as a bit aggressive and on shared ways more a demand to get out of the way rather than warn...

    Rear Panniers

Well, put like that, it is clearly not your decision to make, just live with ;)

    Rear Panniers

Another aspect might be worth mentioning, more so if you are new to panniers, is the assets of a non constrained bag as the rollers to the more confined shape box type pannier. They don't package much in supermarkets to ideally fit in constrained box type panniers. I have to concede the box...

    Rear Panniers

The photos to me seem to indicate the generous clearance I was expecting in this case. However, as you said earlier it is the eMate style you like, so that probably is the way you need to go, just very expensive to even get 32 litres IMO. I have never any issue with Ortlieb kit than the funds...

    Rear Panniers

As many cyclists use the Ortlieb Classics (£100 a pair) would it be sensible to ask one of us you meet out, if they would be good enough to try one on your bike, or ask that of a dealer? They take but seconds to clip on and off, and even if the hangers are not ideally spaced take moments to...

Bring back the old format web

Is the more restricted options on the smiley menu a PC "browser" choice issue; I have the full 13 with Chrome?

Stealth 100W motor caput after 18 months

Assuming it was supplied by a dealer and it is only 18 months old then the whole is covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, an obligation specifically and only on that supplying dealer. The warranty, usually a makers, is only an "extra", the CRA 2015 covers so much more. To fail after what...

    New eBikes and cyclists

R & M Tinkers, just a tad covetous; lovely, the nuvinci and Gates version?

    Pushing ebike

Is the "Voodoo zobop" sold in an e-bike version? Not a bike I know, so to check its spec for a "walk mode" I tried to find it; Halfords version is just an all suspension non electric MTB.

Want to know how many miles or km's your Bosch motor should last?

Thanks, so derestricting does not alter the power used. Therefore, it will follow that as the power consumption is the same but the bike is going faster the range you achieve from an xWatts battery increases proportionally with the speed increase; you doing all that extra speed related work...

Want to know how many miles or km's your Bosch motor should last?

Thank you Bearing Man. I have to say you surprise me with your belief there will be "no more force through the motor" at speeds above the EU speed limit. But I accept the motors are offered in higher than EU speed markets, so no doubt they are designed for that, however probably at some impact...

Want to know how many miles or km's your Bosch motor should last?

Am I right in assuming this is a motor used at EU legal ratings? If so, have you a "view" on how derestricting it would alter your 10K + mies prediction?

    Navigation Choices

Associated with this has anyone found a really trustworthy way to mount a smartphone to the bars? Navigation wise I use Maps ME on a 7" tablet using a Rixen Kaul map holder(as link) on my road bike, but I can't fix it on the e-bike because of the display. Using my mobile could solve that...

What use are hybrid vehicles really?

Not of any relevance to those dwelling in rural Wales, or me, but I thought some hybrids were squeezing under the London Congestion Charge emissions point? So whilst of questionable physical merit there could be a very big plus on running costs for those effected.

The problem with E-bikes in the UK.

Even in two years of ebiking I have yet to be told I am cheating. I sometimes think so myself as I still also use a conventional bike when that is what I want. If this is cheating so what, it is certainly a "brighter" thing to do for at least most of my riding. Maybe "they" have not twigged that?

Advice on Charging Battery When Not In Use

My handbook suggests storing at circa 70% charged. To wake it up, which I have needed to do if not using it for over a week, all I need to do is press the on battery "push to read" battery status button. I would certainly follow their recommendation for a 4 month storage. I recall similar 50>70%...

    bike satnav

It might not suit you but I use the Android app "Maps ME" on a 7" cheap WiFi only tablet. This app uses on device [SD card] downloaded map tiles. So you download those for areas you need when on line via wifi so they are there to use later when not connected to anything. It has the ability to...

    low step hub gear

    When to change tyres

What state are the walls in, that might be the more critical issue? The tread is hardly worn, even the centre flashing is not worn off, so IMO it is good to go.
