    Cheap replacement kit

Don't get idea here really cwah From memory the issues you have are 1. You overvolt and otherwise take kit to or beyond limits 2. You leave your bikes outside so water ingress is a massive issue So I also did 1. Plenty of times. And burned a few controllers and some nylon motor gears etc...

    Winners DC-DC converter/charger module

Forgive me if I am missing something !......but on a normal charge (so to 42v) isn't this lacking in safety? A standard lithium charger is mildly clever in that it senses voltage and taper charges from a certain point Isn't this a blunt instrument by comparison ? It will charge at 2a all the...

    Battery pack issues

I can't open the photo but I've repaired several packs now where the welded nickel strip on the cells itself comes off. Sometimes a connection is made through pressure , then a knock separates again I'd look at all the welds carefully for a loose one

    Redundancy

I would advise caution here, I'm not at all sure what you suggest is legal without at least advising those present of the recording If push came to shove it is likely it would be inadmissible evidence in tribunal or court It's complex and not cut n dry. Here is starting point for research...

The end of BionX? - An interesting post on ES by Justin Lemire-Elmore

I still recall the day I entered my local giant store to get the B.B. removed from the bike I just bought(to fit a mid drive) . I didn’t have right tool. I stood behind a gent I guesstimate was around 70. He wanted his recumbent converted . They were quoting the man around 5 grand plus 80 per...

what long sleeved thermals/base layers are you brave comuters using

Today I wore a thin fleece zip up designed to clip into a ski jacket. Then a Lidl workman’s waterproof padded jacket. Then a Fluro Aldi cycling waterproof jacket over that And aldi winter cycling gloves with silk inners (not Aldi !) And Altura attack 360 overbrousers And two neck buffs. On...

battery reverse charging a2b hybrid 24 and extra charger needed

Do you own a multimeter ? The forum can talk you through some tests to work out the issue (charger , cells or Bms board are a few points of failure ) How old is the battery ? Also , I don’t know what you mean by “reverse charging “ can you explain ? To me that means connecting a charger the...

    Battery output problem

Gotcha but still, there are numerous reasons from duff cells to water ingress etc. I suppose on the duff batteries I've repaired (which I appreciate is far fewer than you) it's never been the BMS at fault But granted , changing both cells and BMS covers both bases. However , that's easy to...

    Battery output problem

In particular I’ve a bunch of Samsung 2600mah which are used but still serviceable . Happy to let you have the best of them. They came out of a 36v hailong where water ingress ruined 2 cell strings. I’ve been using a few of them to power my lights. They still hold good capacity (90% guesstimate...

    Battery output problem

Hang on a moment Why does the BMS need replacing. I’m not clear it’s knackered ? If the bad string is at 0.3v then forget it, it’s beyond repair Forgive me D8veh but I don’t understand why one would try the usb approach on 0.3v cell ? That’s a goner surely? To Ian, can you tell me anything...

    Battery output problem

Is that 37v fully charged ? That’s too low if it is and tends indicate a weak cell string /strings But Nealh suggested readings should confirm either way

    Wireless battery charging for e-Bikes

I had a crack at this 4 years ago ;) Wireless charging (a proof of concept type thing ) https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_fid=19542&share_tid=17016&url=http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/Wireless-charging-%28a-proof-of-concept-type-thing-%29.17016/&share_type=t

Organising salvaged cells in a DIY battery

I have built a 36v battery out of salvaged laptop cells. On the plus side I learnt an absolute ton. On the downside it took many, many, many hours to disassemble, test and group similar cells. And more time to solder /weld up I only hooked it to a 36v 200w motor. It was a 10s 6p btw It...
