Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

It's no good anyone attempting to pigeonhole us electric bike owners, we're all eccentrics who aren't constrained by the need to belong. Unsurprising that we often also have widely differing opinions about things. Strength of character is required to live as we often do,

The Raptor by FWG coming soon! 14Kg inc battery.

Good lord is that one of those bicycle mopeds :p David I wonder if anyone has asked for a third option of something like an 11 ah battery all in one? it'll certainly be easier to make the one gear cope with most situations, a tad too hilly here for me to make it work though. Certainly nice to...

Jeans and trainers on my Bosch, or shorts if it's really warm. Oh and for someone who said they appeal to those in flat areas, I live in the Peak District in the south pennines, which is the opposite of flat.

A working dongle - at last

Glad you're sorted. Funnily enough I did a local 10 mile time trial the other week. I followed a friend on his 6K sub 6 kg time trial bike, the course way a little downhill into the wind and slightly uphill with a tail wind. I kept up easily uphill, on the 3 mile downhill he pulled about a 30...

Legal bike how to chose between them?

This would be an interesting aspect to take to the thread about control systems. What system does the BH use that other manufacturers aren't using? is this a case of a more expensive bike having better programming in the way a Bosch has?

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

I'd go for the Tornado out of those 3 myself. I certainly wouldn't have a CD given the gear change issues.

Personally I view it as a bit of fun, there are too many variables at play to base a decision to buy solely on which bike gets up the hill first.

I'd just buy the BPM one if that's the choice you have Jason.

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

trying to pedal a heavy unassisted bike when you're used to the response you get when assisted. but then again I'm used to the instantaneous response from my bike. That effect won't catch you out on bikes where the power takes a second or so to come in, so perhaps not something you're familiar with.

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

As Kudos Dave has said before that's completely unacceptable for his customers to have to do. and I most definitely couldn't live with that. Glad you've found a way around a very poor set-up though.

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

I can imagine the sideways swerve you execute when pedalling your heavy bike with no assistance, that's if I'm understanding you correctly. Perhaps you need to spend a bit more time with a Bosch bike. I've ridden slowly with kids a lot on my bike and I know I prefer what my bike will do to what...

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

The issue the riders had was that when they tried to change to a lower gear, they kept pedalling, but the nexus 8 wouldn't change gear under load, so they ground to a halt in too high a gear. To change gear on the Nexus with the Classic Bosch you have to stop pedalling briefly to allow a gear...

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

I thought turning a throttle did just that, assist  as I've said several times now a good system will allow you to pedal as you would on a normal bike at any speed in the assist range. No drama's at all, even in full power. again that's exactly what a good system does. I take it that...
