    Need help selecting ebike

In the grand scheme no, but if you only read one thread you miss the finer details of the requirements, so in that sense I find it annoying, and it happens too often.

    Best bike for least peddling

Good to know, and as the saying goes you're never too old. Pedalling is more comfortable than just sitting there, and it keeps you warm.

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

I don't see any posts showing motor internals on the forum these days like there used to be a few years ago, is this the reason, because they no longer break? Do motors like in the one on the Cytronex still use those roller drive motors that freewheel really well?

    Need help selecting ebike

I keep forgetting we have two threads on the same enquiry, perhaps admin can merge them. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/best-bike-for-least-peddling.26026/

    Best bike for least peddling

Seriously what's with the aversion to pedalling? e-bikes are the best of both worlds, a bit like a moped and bicycle combined if you use them as designed, and pedal it.

    Gears and Tyres

One point Rob has missed in his very comprehensive replies is that gears are now indexed, so they just click into the right gear, no fine tuning of each required as would have been the case all those years ago.

    New to the scene

Welcome Steed. Every time I saw the thread title I couldn't help but think of VW's To think e-bikes are now as prestigious as the VW scene :)

    Best legal eapc hill climber

My early days of returning to cycling were just like that, despite the illness I was able to improve my fitness to the point I don't miss having a throttle. But until the individual tries it is impossible to say how they'll get on. I've gone from 2-mile rides on the flat to being able to cover...

    Best legal eapc hill climber

I'm not doubting you have, I imagine you've also seen a lot of variability in the people you've seen too? It could well be that this person doesn't feel able to pedal, so please let hoppy answer my question.

    Best legal eapc hill climber

With respect you're answering a question about someone you haven't met, so your generalization is invalid. and as Geebee says it isn't a case of feeling like they don't have the energy, they don't have the energy full stop. I should know having had the wretched disease for over ten years.

Why don't they want to pedal up the hills? Is the intention to use the bike on throttle alone?

    Ignore function for threads

I dipped into the Brexit thread early on, but haven't looked for months now, I guess it would take me days to catch up with it all now.

    Ignore function for threads

I'm completely oblivious to whatever it is, clearly I don't read that many threads here.

Motor: Crank Drive or Front Hub (because of Nexus preference)?

Nexus for rim brakes, Alfine for disc brakes, the same internals. You need a frame that separates to get a belt on.

Motor: Crank Drive or Front Hub (because of Nexus preference)?

That isn't the case with a Nexus, on a normal bike they change up and down under load, perhaps sometimes a very slight easing of the pressure may be desirable, but they certainly don't need the chain to be stationary.

Motor: Crank Drive or Front Hub (because of Nexus preference)?

I'm lead to believe the steps system isn't as powerful as a Bosch system. I also understand that there are gear-change sensing systems available on both systems, linked to the Nexus hub gears, but I'm dubious about how well they work in reality. I have the classic Bosch and the walk assist is...
