    Bosch performance motor crank movement

I did suspect the bearing had spit into two, is that the case?

    Bosch performance motor crank movement

You should be able to prise the bearing off, if that part that comes off the main pedal shaft is like the classic Bosch it will house the motor freewheel.

I can't quite make it out from your photo, but it should be right there in front of you.

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Although with one of each with a worn pedal shaft currently being discussed on the forum even those aren't free from reliability issues, granted not in the same league as Impluse.

    Bosch performance motor crank movement

I'd watch some youtube videos of a motor being stripped first, on the classic Bosch it would be very easy to break the torque sensor if you didn't remove it. I've not stripped the newer motor. I'm amazed to see the bearing being offered, it's a fair bit wider than the one in the classic motor...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Bike shops have chains on rolls so they don't waste any links as normally happens when we buy a chain of a certain length. I hope you're sorted soon.

    Bosch performance motor crank movement

There's a 2 year warranty on Bosch components, so it should be under guarantee. and 500 miles is nothing at all, I'd expect at the very least 6,000 miles from that bearing for a heavy user.

    Bosch performance motor crank movement

If you have radial play on the drive side crank arm it'll be this bearing that has gone. but double check the size as I'm making an educated guess regarding the size, there are cheaper versions of the bearing also. How many miles has it done?

    Folding bike gears

I don't think they will be. Don't buy any without loading two in and out of your car and folding unfolding, and then riding them. Folders are not as stable to ride, and e-bike folders are awkward heavy bulky lumps to get in and out of a car. The reality is going to disappoint you.

    Folding bike gears

I take that to mean you considered having two bikes on the bike rack to be a heavy load, rather than the bikes were heavy to load. As in the other thread my advice would also be to carry two normal bikes on a towbar mounted e-bike specific rack, you could also carry the batteries in the car to...

    Folding bike gears

You sure about that? yes I'm aware of what bike he has, and don't want reminding of what you need to do to change gear on them.

    Folding bike gears

Any bike with a Bosch or Yamaha crank drive motor will be okay with any gears you choose. Hub gears may require a very brief pause of pedalling when changing gear, but they're nothing like as awkward as the Bafang you have. I don't think they've improved the Bafang yet, so best to avoid Bafang...

    Folding bike gears

you've not said on this thread which bike your wife had, multiple threads on the same enquires just confuse everyone, stick to one thread, or at the very least provide more information. Was her old bike even crank drive for example? Bosch and Yamaha CD bikes are much better than Bafang CD at...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Yes I know, my reply was to Biscuit who had reported the same issue. So I posted to make everyone aware that it can be an easy fix. If it isn't the motor that is causing the cracking/clacking noise.

    Sprocket and speed advice

This is the rear sprocket, as in the video and link above, 16 is as small as you can go, see how it goes with one, and if it isn't enough think about a bigger front sprocket http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-sprocket-for-nexus-8/ Edit, Forgetting you still have a 23 rear, the jump to 16 will be a...
