Can you get a 48v controller that you can set a wattage limit on?

You can get controllers that will run without sensors. Most of the ones I use are like this, less to go wrong.

Can you get a 48v controller that you can set a wattage limit on?

You sort of can. If you get a 'torque simulation' controller from BMS battery, it gives constant current at each of the three settings. I have a 250w/36v version. It gives 4/6*/16A on low/med/high settings when using PAS. (I think it was 6A. Could have been 8A) I would guess that the higher...

    A confession....

I have something to confess. The thing I've done is not illegal, but I must admit to feelings of shame and guilt. In the past the thought of it turned my stomach, I couldn't understand why anyone would do it. But, eventually ones urges will out. The truth is I enjoyed it more than I...

Agreed, theres nearly always something you have to get around. I have always put the PAS on the non drive side because of this. It one reason I use second hand bikes - the cheapest thing on the bike to change is.......the bike.

    Carrera Vengeance mountain bike

It's hard to recommend a suitable bike, as it's such a personal thing. I was just giving you some food for thought. You can get wide, slick tyres for mountain bikes. These give comfort, but none of the rumble of knobblies, and much better on-road grip. Schwalbe big apple or fat Frank. Both are...

    Carrera Vengeance mountain bike

Carrera bikes are good, I've owned many. They represent great value for money. This model is pretty average in spec, with faddy 27.5" wheels. It has knobbly tyres. Why would you want those in London? I'd want puncture resistance semi slicks for use on the road. It has mech disks, which can be...

    Carrera Vengeance mountain bike

In my opinion, it's not a great bike for a conversion. If I were you, I'd find a 26" wheel bike with 21 or fewer gears, aluminum frame and disk brakes. Loads available on eBay for £50-100, often with very little use. Then, chuck a 250w geared, rear hub kit on it, and some hydraulic brakes...

    Carrera Vengeance mountain bike

That bike has 24 gears, so 8 at the back. If you want to keep that arrangement you either need a rear hub motor with Cassette (most are freewheel) or a special 8 speed freewheel (DNP) at about £25. Alternatively, crank drive as you suggest. Edit: Also, it has 27.5" wheels. This will make...

How do you explain the difference then? I'd be astounded if the case and BMS weigh 1.5k Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

Looking for a good quality bike

Which is why I said 'almost'. For the differences above to be down to the case/BMS then it would have to weigh 1.5k on its own. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

Looking for a good quality bike

Sorry my post above should have been more specific about battery technologies. What I really meant to say technologies and cell/brand types. So there's only two possible reasons for the Kalkhoff discrepancy above: 1. They are using inferior cells in the smaller pack. As a premium brand that...
