    New bike is here!

Stick a child carrier on the rack, take tiddler with you. Cycling about with kids can be great fun. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

    Converting a Birdy Folder

I should think so. I've never seen a hub motor with a RHS disk mount. Turning a geared motor the other way around won't work as the clutch is directional. I can't see why a DD hub wouldn't work, installed backward. Just have to swap the phases so it goes the right way. Sent from my HTC One_M8...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

This is nonsense. Mine takes 6.1 seconds to reach 62mph. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

    Rights of Way.

One problem with a bell is that the public often don't know how to use a shared cycle route. Sometimes when I ring my bell they jump from one side to the other. Other times they will hug the edge of the cycle way and scowl at me as if I expected them to completely vacate the area. Most times I...

    New Bike - update

The squeeling sounds like glazed pads, probably because they weren't bedded in correctly to start with. You will need to remove the pads, rough them up a bit with sandpaper and clean the disks thoroughly, perhaps even a light sanding. Ensure that there is no oily stuff anywhere near the...

    Battery help

Trust me, this is not true. You might get away with something physically small, light and cheap, but those guys are, (astonishingly) able to see through this old trick when it comes to a battery. I have purchased around 10 batteries from China. Never once have I got away with it. Sent from my...

    Battery help

I wouldn't advise it. I have bought lots of kit from them, including batteries, but I accept the risks and know the costs. You have the following problems: 1. Postage costs will be very high. 2. You will get hit for import duty (don't listen to SW's advice about gift/sample, he's talking out...

    Battery from EBC

As I said in another thread, the only way to confirm is to do a discharge test. If you are willing to send it to me/recover I can test it.

    Battery help

Batteries are pretty much costed on capacity. 1kWh is a very big battery, £400 is a good price. For example, a 36v x 10ah will set you back around £240. That's 360Wh. Perhaps a more pertinent question is why do you need so much capacity? Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

    Conversion kit ordered

One of these, connect between battery and controller, ride around a bit and it will let you know how much has been used. Unfortunately, when the battery dies, so does the power supply to the device, so all memory is lost. Either power separately or check regularly...

No, the only way to be sure is a full discharge test. You can take it apart and look at the cells, but that's only as good as what's printed on them. Discharge test can be done on the bench, or on the bike with a watt meter. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

    Battery help

That's a lot of battery you are after, give or take 1kWh. Its always going to be comparatively expensive. If you are willing to learn how to use them safely (or reckless/brave/stupid) then lipo is cheapest, but a bit of a faff. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

Sometimes the existing holes are in the right place, and will be OK for light (road) use. In my experience, an extra one is a good idea. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

Yes, kit is best first time. You need to buy everything anyway, so get it all together. By the 20th you'll have loads of different bits n pieces like me. Are you planning on a downtube battery? If so you may need to add an extra rivnut on to your frame. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
