Failed on my first big hill

theoretically only though, applicable on long climbs with a constant gradient. In practice, very often you have to keep changing gears to adapt your pedalling strength to the gradient and narrowness of the path, your CD motor will have to go off then ramp up each time you change gear, reducing...

    Leaving the EU

I found Blair was a very impressive communicator in his interview. Robinson made the point about a British characteristic that seems to think that if we nobble the EU then the EU would fail. That's what we did in the 50s and 60s and about to repeat the same.

Failed on my first big hill

one of the Kriegers at woosh in Southend has a gear sensor fitted. It climbs better than their Big Bear when I whack up the throttle to full because I can then shift freely between the gears while pedalling to my own rythm without fear of mashing the chain and derailleur.

Failed on my first big hill

at the moment, I find that the best combination for hill climbing is a crank drive with a throttle. Whack up the throttle to full and pedal.

    Leaving the EU

if anything, it shows that our then leaders knew privately very well what we let ourselves in for, and more importantly, why. The objectives of the EEC then were clearly spelt out on many occasions before we joined, move toward a federal Europe and keep high tariffs for the outsiders...

Failed on my first big hill

both bikes that failed to get up that big hill were TS. The OP would have flatten that big hill on an Ezee. Throttles are tolerated on new bikes until 1/1/2018.

Failed on my first big hill

the throttle delivers 100% motor power while you can rest up your legs. TS bikes can't deliver 100% power if you are too tired to pedal hard.

That case... and the public interest

that comment from the UK largest e-bike sellers? I could not believe what I was reading. I am all for legalizing s-pedelecs but no, that was just sending all the wrong signals.

Bike is due for replacement (again). Best commuter for £1,000

you need an allen key to unscrew it. If you are worried about where you keep the bike, you can always replace the allen bolts with some security M3 bolts http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M3-M4-Pin-Tamper-Torx-Security-Button-Head-Machine-Screw-M3-M4-Bolts-304-A2-SS-/252325267743

Bike is due for replacement (again). Best commuter for £1,000

13AH = 36 * 13WH = 458WH The Karoo will use less than 10WH per mile because of fast rolling tyres, you'll get more than 46 miles. EddiePJ got 76 miles out of his Karoo's battery but he's a strong pedaller. I got about 50 miles, I am not a strong pedaller.

with a 13AH battery: between 50 miles to 75 miles. The Karoo is rather economical on battery with fast rolling tyres.

Increasing the range on my Zephyr CDN

d8veh may be thinking of paralleling the two batteries whereas your idea is using the second battery to balance charge the zephyr CDN's own battery. Both methods work but yours is simpler to do.
