    18650 cell question

Cheap cells are never worth while! Unless you are building a massively parallel battery say 10P10S. Then you have to carry it around (twice the weight, twice the volume), that works in a car but not on a bike.

    18650 cell question

A 5 A discharge capable cell will be at 0.6C and a 15 Ah capable cell will be at 0.2C. Look at those discharge tables again and you will see why a 15 A discharge Samsung 30Q is the cats pyjamas for a 5P10S battery :) and only 190 € for the cells! You only need a 12.5 Ah battery? Get the Samsung...

    Bike transport

What bikes do you have? Removing a front wheel on quick release should not be an issue. My bike will go in a Roomster, I measured. Maybe you will need to attach a bike to each side and turn the front wheel in slightly to get the length. Which leaves lots of room in the middle for "stuff" :) I...

Are lithium pencil batteries overpriced and overhyped?

I have no problems with the Carrefour ones. I did have one that exploded of the E.Leclerc brand, all of those went in the bin (recycling)... I also have a few Energizer ones. Keyboards (2), wall clock, bike lights (4), all work fine.

    lightweight assistance and proportional power

You can't over-volt a BBS0x. They require you to be in the right gear. I am guessing you stalled them and fried the controllers. A new controller costs 76€.

Carrera Vulcan Mountain Bike electric 250/1000w 13a 48v medium

What is stamped on those motors, 250 W or 1000 W? If it is marked as 250 W then it is a 250 W motor if there is a "magic" switch giving power X 4 is also illegal as per EN standards however in the same way dongles are.

    Should lights be mandtory

They are sold with a bike in France. Buy your Decathlon bike and you get their crappy little USB chargeable rubbery things in a plastic bag attached to the handlebar. I have almost crashed into bikes with no lights in the pitch black on cycle paths. fortunately each time there was still a...

It is a bit chilly but definitely riding in shorts from now on! :) Three rides in three days this week, all under brilliant sunshine: - Wednesday wind gusting to over 80 km/h had to use first gear in a couple of places  - Thursday less wind, very warm, just the one t-shirt under...

Can I use this adapter to mount 2 chainrings on BBSO1?

You might be able to but I wouldn't, mine is specially CNC cut to accept and hold the two rings which have different inner diameters. It is also aluminum and weighs about 30 grams. To finish it cost about the same price.

    Should lights be mandtory

To which I reply "I know". That shuts them up. Daytime running lights are already mandatory on s-pedelecs in Germany. I use them on the upright, it helps a lot at intersections. I don't use them on the trike (yet) because people are already saying "What the hell is that thing?" and for the most...
