I'm not sure whether these reports are as a result of the 'Brexit' fiasco or simply symptomatic of the general malaise of the UK under tory rule: business-46151172 business-46073288 Either way, they don't bode well for a country whose government ministers believe is big enough to do well on...

Err…no! The words are from 'Marmion', not by Shakespeare but by Sir Walter Scott. Tom

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Another day, another embarrassing display by a tory minister! On this occasion, it is the over-promoted, career advancement-chasing desperado, Domidick Raab, currently occupying the role of 'Brexit' minister - the full title is too long and cumbersome for me - who is the pillock responsible...

Indeed 'Danidl'; Sadly, the whole Grenfell business stinks of corrupt practices. Whether it's the makers of a product intended to clad and insulate buildings, some consultancy firm, or the contractors who fitted the material….or the council sub-committee charged with overseeing such matters...

I read this earlier and it made me laugh. Doesn't he think French folk have an expression similar in meaning to that quaint old English phrase, 'Waddaloadabollox!'? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-46128372 Tom

On the subject of transparency, I note that 'VoxPolitical' has reported on the matter of 'gagging clauses', a subject that most of the media will overlook as Theresa May could well find herself implicated over her handling of aspects of the Grenfell fire disaster. This is shocking stuff...

Does anyone remember the buzzword bandied about by politicians for a time, 'Transparency'? It seems they discovered that openness, and honesty doesn't suit the kind of agenda they now operate under. Tom

I'm more of an Adnam's Broadside kind of socialist but I'm not one to refuse a nice Rioja Reserva……I reckon between them, that's two of my five-a-day! Tom

This year, I haven't bought a poppy yet and I may not even bother for this reason. I have mixed feelings about the continuing event due to its commercialisation and the way in which it seems to have been hijacked by TV news people and politicians as if to suggest that they share the grief of...

I move in slightly posher circles where that sentiment is expressed as, 'Couldn't organise a cocktail party in a wine bar!';) Tom

I like Wetherspoon's business model; I like their prices but I don't like Tim Martin's politics. Sadly, his success has contributed to the closure of a great many traditional pubs across Britain, not all good ones, mind you! Other factors took their toll too but when a business becomes...

They knew exactly what they were doing! It was an appeal to the base instincts of the underclasses in British society and all the armchair warriors declared themselves ready for battle, Thomas Mair being particularly inspired by the fascists with their hate-filled dialogue that has seen...

So, a step too far was the general consensus of the 'Brexidiots' when asked about the prospect of an EU army. 'We're British' and don't want no foreigners in charge of our military people.' seemed to be the simplistic view. Right, I get that! I don't agree with it; in fact, I believe it...

That long tall streak of p fine man of the people, indeed a man for all seasons with amendable principles according to which party was stupid enough to have him and now a Baron as a reward, has spotted this faux pas from rabid 'Brexiteer', Steve Baker……but was it really a slip-up? Tom

Collateral damage even before we get to the crunch! That might just be sufficient to convince the dunderheads in Sunderland and the other car producing areas that they really need to prevent 'Brexit'…..but will they? Tom

What exacerbated the disaster at Slapton was the fact that British shore batteries strafed those Americans who managed to get back to the beach, killing god knows how many. The Americans decided not to release that information to the American people. Tom
