    Bafang 8fun CD 36v or 48v ?

sellers are divided into two camps: half leave you with the socket to plug your throttle in, the other not. The latter tend to fit a torque sensor as a substitute. However, a torque sensor requires you to pedal even more than bikes with a simple cadence sensor so it's not really a substitute. If...

    Jan 2016 Throttle Regulations

the full throttle has always been and still is allowed on converted bikes. Don't worry about it. As you rightly pointed out, the new regulation concerns only factory built. Full throttle is not allowed. Manufacturers can still supply but can't connect them. However, the DfT has confirmed that...

My point is about increased inherent risks of two-stage reduction versus single stage. Overheating and shortened life expectancy of the ball bearings. It's the same situation with the Xiongda XD motor, two clutches against one. I had it but not rolled it out. You gain something but you always...

that bike is a classic Dutch design, so it won't be discontinued but woosh have no spare storage from now to June/July, unlikely to see a new batch before July.

the 36V BBS02 maxes out at 1,000W - you'll climb pretty much any hill with it coupled to a Rolhoff. Max speed derestricted is about 24mph.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

yes, why not? Either he accepts our values or he is not wanted here. Let's face it: he wants to renegotiate NAFTA with his neighbours, that will take years. He will be long gone before we can join NAFTA if we ever come to that.

Aikema make their motors for OEM, I suspect they make them for bmsbattery.com. The one I like best is this one ($112): https://bmsbattery.com/ebike-kit/768-q128c-135mm-500w-rear-driving-ebike-hub-motor-ebike-kit.html I had their Q128H, with freewheel instead of cassette fitting. Lovely motor...

    Bafang 8fun CD 36v or 48v ?

the 36V is optimized for torque, the 48V for speed. If your heart can hold on to 120 RPM, then 48V. If you are old and well built, then you need torque, 36V which maxes out about 86RPM.

Bafang has excellent track record. Aikema Electric (Suzhou) have been making motors with two-stage reduction gearboxes since 2003 I believe. They have not been well known and certainly not beaten Bafang on sales. I think you are wrong to go with them. Time will tell.

I am always on the look out for new motors and am not surprised when someone praises one of them. The Aikema motors aren't new. They have been making them for years. The same design is produced under other brands, essentially having a two-stage reduction gearing and smaller lighter core compared...

could someone neutral like d8veh please come here and discuss the merits of a Bafang motor versus an Aikema motor on a 20" wheel?

I have talked to Akamai for months in 2015, thinking of using their 100SX motors, I know the prices. Your Akamai motor costs less than the Bafang motor on the Woosh Gale. Do you want to know why I did not proceed with them in 2016?

hang on a minute, a you saying that the Bafang motor on the woosh costs less than your akamai motor or the 13AH battery on the woosh costs less than your battery? I don't think so.
