    Gear sensor

I made my own gear sensor with a microswitch mounted on the handlebars and a magnet glued onto the casing of my rapidfire shifter. The motor cuts if I push on the shifter lever more than about 3mm, giving the motor time to cut out before the derailleur starts moving. The inline gear sensor kicks...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

today, from the BBC: The problem for Theresa May is that when she comes to election time in 2020, Brexit may not feel like Brexit.

TS is not better. If anything, it's restrictive. I think cadence sensor is better for most people. You can pedal as much as you like, that's a big plus, especially if you tire easily (then you should also have a full throttle).

very likely. So much for the future of Mrs May. She could soon be flushed down the toilet by a glitch in the Torygraph.

I can. I voted Tory for years before voting for the LibDems. But don't get me started on how much I hate the current conservative party. Mrs May puts her party before the country. That's good enough reason for me. I'll vote for Mr Corbyn next time.

    Where's the battery?

seriously, has anybody thought of hiding the battery inside the BBS01 style motors?

everyone gets bionic legs even on Tesco's Hoppers until their battery goes flat. As for natural feel, I would say that TS gives a more natural feel only for a short while, until your legs begin to get tired.

45 Mile Commute, possible on a eBike?

don't forget the impact of voltage sag when choosing a bike for long distance commuting. You will of course be interested in high speed capability of the bike to save time but be careful when choosing the combination of battery and motor. Voltage sag can make the bike unpleasant to ride when you...

not quite same though is it? £1,000 e-bike is more like £20 pair of trousers from Tesco.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

topsy turvy time in UK politics. The reshuffle of Labour front bench did not go well. A general election next May will concentrate the mind of our politicians. It seems to me that the Telegraph is beginning to change their stance - becoming more sympathetic to remainers than before.

the Pound is down another cent today. Now at $1.26. Even idiots can see that prices will go up shortly. I reckon Mrs May will wobble soon enough.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

if May calls the election now, Mr Corbyn will win handsomely in England. He's the one with more foot soldiers than anyone else while the conservatives are as deeply divided as they were before the referendum. The SNP will hold on to Scotland. The other notable winners will be Ukip for winning...

May's closing speech made me long for PR. Her speech shows her a puppet. Is it because she does not have a mandate?

Alien Aurora - broken rear spoke

I think this is how it happens. when spokes are loose, you can hear them rattle. Even without a couple of loose spokes, the rim can deform 2-3 millimetres where it passes close to the ground. One of the loosened nipples will eventually catch the inside of the spoke hole and cause the stuck spoke...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Tillson, if we run a trade deficit, then 20% loss value of the Pound increases the import costs by 20% while export earnings will also go up by 20%, the deficit will grow by 20%. The politicians may call this 20% increase in export value a triumph for brexit but they'll try to play down the 20%...

thank you for sharing your experience. I see that you went for a better bike at each step. There is no reason to think that the electrics on the Motus is any more likely to let you down than before. The main reason for electrics to fail is water ingress. E-bikes need sheltering, kept dry and a...
