Battery and charge connectors for case

I plugged and unplugged an XT60 for over 4,000 km. You are right they are not waterproof, the one on the controller is now welded to the extension cable one because it is exposed to spray, I will replace them one of these days. Moving to higher voltage also encouraged me to invest in anti-spark...

Can anyone recommend - 36v/350w/135mm/Juliet/36h compact rear hub motor for 16" wheel?

Bafang are known to be conservative in the specs on their web page. ebike.ca sells two even faster winds for 20" and 16" wheels, see the wheel I posted further up the thread. Maybe their standard wind is done specially for them? They have a testing machine to read out the actual rpm/v IIRC. In...

Can anyone recommend - 36v/350w/135mm/Juliet/36h compact rear hub motor for 16" wheel?

The standard speed G310 is 8.5 rpm/volt, see the ebike.ca page

Can anyone recommend - 36v/350w/135mm/Juliet/36h compact rear hub motor for 16" wheel?

You are my savior! I have been looking everywhere other than ebike.ca where the same motor costs over $300 shipped. The only problem to solve now is magnets flying off at over 400 rpm (48v x 8.5 rpm/v = 408 rpm) - ebike.ca have a rotor with magnets re-glued with high temp epoxy. I wonder how...

Can anyone recommend - 36v/350w/135mm/Juliet/36h compact rear hub motor for 16" wheel?

Can anyone recommend - 36v/350w/135mm/Juliet/36h compact rear hub motor for 16" wheel?

The G310? Rare as hens teeth. Edit found the beast: https://www.ebikes.ca/shop/electric-bicycle-parts/motors/mg311-very-fast-wind-16.html $387 shipped to UK...

    Box components

OK so it has stopped raining! Long enough for the road to be dry and clean enough for trike riding in any case. First road test: - it shifts much better than it looks - 23 speeds out of 24 work, 48:42 doesn't but that isn't an issue, a derailleur hanger extension would fix the problem which...

    ebike build from scratch

I see you still have the brake wires :) I just spent the afternoon mucking about with my crappy rear derailleur and the analogue wheel and have 23 of 24 gears, tomorrow no rain announced so it is trike time again! Disclaimer: I still have a PAS disc and cable, all 2 metres of it...

Is it a bad idea to order an E-bike from another country?

You have a repair company in the UK for out of guarantee pedelecs, he has spoken of his services on these pages. If I had a Bosch bike I wouldn't hesitate to send him the motor for bearing exchange from here. I don't do bearings myself because of lack of tooling (no vise for example). Batteries...

Is it a bad idea to order an E-bike from another country?

Here on the continent, as you quaintly say, the notion of country within the Eurozone is non existant when it comes to buying stuff. One of my mates bought a pedelec in a Spanish Decathlon and it is actually easier to get there than to go to the French one. Sale prices are not the same, he got a...

For Sale KT 9 FET 25 Amp 36/48v sinewave controller

I bought this hoping it would solve long cable run problems on the trike, it doesn't work out for me. Used twice in testing with a 36v battery and at 25 Amps I saw 950+ controller Watts. Plenty of power, dead silent (my ear was 40 cm from the controller on the road) it pushed the Mxus XF08 to...

Looking for a mini 36v controller

I see what you mean about the buttons (mine arrived on Friday). It is a design error, they should (could) have extended the bottom part where the buttons are by about 5 mm so that they ar further apart. It will work with my thinner winter water repellent gloves. Unfortunately I can't test...

Help! How do they enforce legal max power?

As explained a few months back EN15194 doesn't quite work like that, it is a directive. The motor needs to be labelled as 250W, the battery needs to be labelled as 48v max with a CE mark and the frame needs a conformity sticker where the manufacturer (you?) states: EPAC According to EN15194 25...

Help! How do they enforce legal max power?

I didn't read about those in EN15194 I think they are in another directive that concerns road worthiness. In French road code pedal reflectors were there long before pedelecs existed and to my knowledge in France there is no obligation for a side stand.

Help! How do they enforce legal max power?

The battery is limited in order to stay within EU low voltage limits, nothing to do with e-bike power. Once you get to about 60-72v DC there is a whole lot more legislation to respect in order to prevent electrocution, fires, parasiting your neighbours TV reception .... 60v is a 14S battery...

    How to start?

Big wheels = high top speed and stability Little wheels = more torque for climbing hills and less stability For commuting 25 km I know what I would choose. If it has to be folding then you have the Tern Joe or the Montague.

Help! How do they enforce legal max power?

You can buy one "off the shelf" from any good dealer, have one made to measure in the UK or Germany, make your own... Li-Ion batteries are "everywhere".

Help! How do they enforce legal max power?

A legal battery is 48v tops. There has been some discussion here whether that means 48v nominative or 48v maximum. All 48v nominative batteries charge to 54.6v or therabouts. Battery voltage is easy to enforce, the testing person just needs a volt meter. Speed is easy to enforce the police...
