    Wind sucks

4,404 Watts - I calculated for an un-suspended eMTB with wide road tyres. :)

    Splitter for lighting?

b+m - rear light requires 6v supernova - rear light requires 12v Those are just examples, many wired rear lights are powered from the front light which provides the correct voltage. In my case the front light is spliced to the 44v battery wire and the rear light powered from the output on the...

    Wind sucks

No, vélomobile :p Hills eat Watts linearly - the steeper the hill, the more Watts. Air eats Watts exponentially - the faster you go the more watts squared. Wind resistance eats about 85% of your Wh, reduce wind resistance = increase range.

250W assist enough for mountain touring?

I insist: with the correct gearing. With a Rohloff you will be fine. The French side is quite easy but things can get a little weird on the Spanish side especially off the beaten track. I have stalled the motor once but that was with the original 46T chainwheel and an 11-32 cassette, the slope...

250W assist enough for mountain touring?

OK that is the information I needed. I ride a 250 W GSM (Bafang clone) in the Basque Country (>13% gradients not uncommon, I can see a >15% from where I type). At the moment it is on an upright and I have ridden with that all up weight on +60km rides with no issues. I have 42-32 on the front...

250W assist enough for mountain touring?

How much do you and your fully loaded bike weigh? How is your bike geared? You may need a double chainwheel or a wide range cassette. The other solution is to leave your motor on and ride as is. If you are uncomfortable with the legal implications print a 250W sticker for it. Places where the...

    Lux or Lumens?

Yes, they are within the legal limit however. As Woosh says above 70 lux is about right for a pedelec in rural areas. I loved my 80 lux light while it worked - the 10 extra lux made a world of difference. Second point is beam shape, you want those lux to be at the right spot on the road ahead...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Guys, don't opt for the strawberries, back breaking, trust me! In any case life expectancy is down again in the UK and Wales so you might as well die picking fruit out there in that wholesome English country air. What? 2,000 places in the UK are over the EU air pollution thresholds. OK so pick...

    Anti-mugging lock?

Basque Country as stated above. Here we have pro and semi-pro riders out training on bikes that have a 5 figure (>10,000€) price tag. Often alone. I was being serious not sarcastic - I had never heard of such a thing. Moped mugging yes.

    no need for high cadence

I wonder if she was late for a meeting? It kind of puts things in perspective when you see someone with a cadence like that and you think you are fast at 90-100 rpm. And jeez I wish I was young and had healthy lungs! :p Looks like we have similar cadence.

I have driven a few Fords in the last 50 years, Ford lost the plot in the late 60's, early 70's. When I was growing up one of my playgrounds was a Model T cemetery. I'll give thumbs up to 3 Fords: - the Deuce, even stock it looks cool and the flat head V8 is a great period modification - the...

    no need for high cadence

Today I was passed by a woman (late 30's to early 40's) going like the clappers on an old beat up b'twin. I wasn't racing but I wasn't exactly hanging about, the wind was in my back let's say 27-30 km/h. So I started counting and I estimated her cadence at between 110 and 120. And she just kept...
