250W assist enough for mountain touring?

Just got back from the garden center with 40 kg of stuff in the trailer. At the moment the GSM is running in 36v mode (38.6v charge when I left home) so it is pertinent to your question. The last short hill is over 15%, I climbed at 10 kph in 32:34 and assistance level 5 drawing about 400 W...

    Saddle sore

You haven't put it in backwards per chance? Soft spring is rated for 100-140lb riders Medium spring is rated for 140-180lb riders Firm spring is rated for 180-220lb riders You should be using a medium spring version like mine. Mine hardly moves (perceptibly) when I am riding, you only feel...

    Saddle sore

What spring did you get it with? I am 80 kg and mine is perfect without even fiddling with settings (you did try a different setting?). It doesn't provide suspension it gums out bumps, my back hasn't been the same since. I don't think it is worth silly money but my back disagrees with me on that...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Erm... we know you are busy brexiting and all that but did you notice we are having EU parliament elections soon? Either you are in or you are out by then and as we all know you don't have a plan: "Off with their heads" said the Queen of Hearts

Farage: We get him on TV news when it's a slow news day, a little comic relief on Sunday evening for example. He can say something and you think "that isn't far from the truth" and in the very next sentence comes out with complete garbage that totally destroys what he just said. The man is a...

    I'm bent!

Back to reason... Can't find a 2x11 drive train that will actually work without jumping through large hoops... :( It is a trike so I am pedalling over the 25 km/h cut off quite a bit. Where I really suffer with the 8 speed 11-40 Sunrace is the big jump between 22T and 28T, the 9 speed 11-36...

That one has quite a high seat and it can be raised a bit more. It is the long wheelbase and the weight between the rear wheels that give it stability. Most recumbent trikes have an adaptive mode with higher seats and even grab handles for getting in and out these days. There are lots of us...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The EU you are scared silly of doesn't exist, at least not yet, and I am not so sure it ever will. The US and China don't want it to exist and the UK is a pawn they are playing to prevent the political union from going too far. I have driven in a car through various countries of the EU. I have...

Apparently your wife wasn't born in the Netherlands! Here on the continent trikes with two rear wheels are considered geriatric devices and very rarely seen doing over 10 km/h. You may quote me on that to her :p

Increasing mid-drive's acceleration with bicycle parts only

You must be quite heavy? My GSM accelerates away from the lights faster than all but the motorbikes and nervous young men in cars with loud exhausts. That is a 250W motor putting out +600W (at the rear wheel) and in 42:24 ratio. It is faster than most two stroke mopeds over the first 10 meters...

Sensor mount damaged; what happens with no sensor?

Yep have one mounted. When I first got the GSM I didn't have a working sensor for about 700 km or so.

Sensor mount damaged; what happens with no sensor?

With a KT controller on the GSM the motor doesn't cut out. A speed is indicated but it has nothing to do with real speed. From personal experience.
