    New Orbea Gains (2020 model?)

There are some lycras that were getting in the wind of my trike last year when I was in top form. So even an old guy in baggy clothes can join the fun. When the motor is working properly I'll be able to tag along with the local cycling club I guess. They do a 70 km run up and back my flat...

    New Orbea Gains (2020 model?)

On the flat last year I averaged 32 km/h on the trike without a motor. I have been mucking about with a hub motor recently and unfit average 35km/h on the same run. Does that answer your question? ;)

For Sale HPVelo Spirit/Street Machine Recumbents

Having been passed and left in the dust by 2 wheel recumbents I decided they weren't for me so I bought a trike... Gaz, you are lying down (so comfortable) and downhill or on the flat you don't need a motor. There is a steepish learning curve and you will be looked upon as...

    Q128H

What assistance level are you in? Of course you have to pedal, it is an assisted bike not a moped, I have no issues on short 20% gradients or leaving red lights, I don't think the motor is at fault.

Help! I need more power (not speed)

I have been naughty and running my XF08 @ 25 Amps. I know I shouldn't... Today it and the 9 fet sine wave controller got a bit warm to the touch, shower water warm say 37°C. That is about 10°C warmer than air temperature at the moment. When I can set the controller to 17 Amps I will...

Advice on ebike conversion kit for 30mile commute

You said: When you are on the long straight bits you use the aero bars, the rest of the time you are sat up. Search for "coupled hydraulic brakes" you could possibly put a second lever out there for the front brake. Use 24 hour lights, not blinky ones, those are used on bicycles and...

    Orbea Gain auxiliary battery

Orbea don't make the batteries, they buy them from the company that makes the motor who probably doesn't make them either but subcontracts. By the time all of those people have added their markup you get ridiculous retail prices (the LBS has his cut too). That is the way of closed systems...

Help! How much can the BBS01B handle?

The GSM which is a BBS01 clone cuts out at cadence over 90. That is a bit of a disappointment to me because I have a natural cadence of around 100 (now verified by cadence meter). Running an external controller I have upped the voltage to 44 and cadence is just about right when the battery is...

    Electric Delivery Bikes

Some things invented in sheds should stay there and never see the light of day... Now if those guys had gone on holiday in Denmark or the Netherlands they would have discovered cargo bikes!!! But there they were, drinking beer on the Costas and their creativity got misguided somewhere along the...

Advice on ebike conversion kit for 30mile commute

Nice find! You have the Haibike, go for it! Schwalbe has a wider tyre out this year with fast e-bike certification https://www.schwalbe.com/en/road-reader/schwalbe-e-one.html - wider = more comfortable over a long distance like yours. 44 tooth chainwheel = 45 km/h at cadence of 90 + a wide...

    Advice on Cheap Option

Any two wheeled vehicle which has too much weight on the front, the handling is horrible, if having a lot of weight on the front wheel was a good idea all motorbikes would be built that way! Think of the difference in handling between a full tank of petrol compared to half a tank, that is when...

Is it possible to turn off the Torque Sensor with mid-drive motors?

Bafang make a PAS only mid motor but I don't know of any bike that uses it - https://www.bafang-e.com/oem-area/components/component/motor/mm-g360250/

Front hub 48v motor for very hilly area

+160kg motor and battery included. >180 kg the time the kids grow and have bags full of school stuff etc. etc. If you can do it without a motor then adding 1 kW extra power you should be just fine - 48v x 25 Amp controller with a "500W" SWX02 = about 960W -> 1 kW at the wheel depending on state...

Front hub 48v motor for very hilly area

26" wheel the motor is usually around 260 rpm, 201 rpm motors are for more grunt. 20" wheels often use 325 rpm motors. I would need to see the steepness and the length of those hills you need to climb to form an opinion on which is best. What is your all up weight with the kids? With the slower...

Front hub 48v motor for very hilly area

Can you get the 48v500w SWX02 in a higher speed winding? You will have plenty of torque with a 20" wheel so a winding around 300 rpm would be ideal. If you want an idea of how far these motors can be pushed https://etrike.wordpress.com/2016/07/22/electric-hub-motor-tuning/ is a good read.

Advice on ebike conversion kit for 30mile commute

Et voila! Aerodynamics, you could do your commute on a bent (with e-assist). - OK so you have to learn to ride a bike all over again... - you don't need such a powerful motor so a BBS02 is plenty - you will use maybe 6 Wh/km so a decent battery will get you there and back - you will be more...

Front hub 48v motor for very hilly area

Good luck with that :) Seriously look at the sticker on this motor: https://bmsbattery.com/motor/353-15748-q100-36v250w-350w-rear-driving-ebike-hub-motor-ebike-kit.html#/213-rpm-201 Now wouldn't that be easy to peel off and replace with your own sticker? Not saying you should or anything...

Front hub 48v motor for very hilly area

No, I was just giving your the example of a motor that is as rare as hens teeth to find, it isn't adapted to your usage but rather to mine. The SWX02 will have plenty of grunt in a small wheel.
