    electric bicycle weight

Bought a bike stand from Dirty Pro Tools via Amazon. For £28 it is astonishingly good value to support a heavy e-bike. Solid rubber faced clamp in the right place for balance and widely spayed tripod legs make working on any part of our bikes so easy. This is not a feeble wibbly wobbly affair, I...

Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

A (heavy) pedal cycle, but in my case the inability to change gears as they are controlled by the battery. Again in my case I am also unable to pedal a conventional bicycle due to health issues, hence the reason for buying an e-bike.

Fully agree, hence my concern if that is paranoid then perhaps I am.

Sorry should have mentioned that we were living in England at that time.

I bought a Powabyke in 2002 and used it for six years. One revolution on the pedals enabled the twist grip throttle to become active and it would have powered me from that point without the pedals ever turning. I just sat there on many occasions with my feet on the stationary pedals and the...

I am sure someone will reply to this more accurately than me but from my "investigations" with friends from the old RUC days they assure me that the current PSNI will be instructed to be more vigilant when they see pedal cycles, just in case one might be a Pedelec. Because of the need to update...

Thanks Danidl, I assume you saw the reply I received from this person in power which to me seemed a rather negative response. You, like so many others not in any sort of power seem to have a much better grasp of this sad situation. In cycling we all have a common interest which in the grand...

Well done mate but we would have to cross Lisburn City to get to the splendid tow path and even by back roads and streets there is always the chance of a Plod trying to be famous and book me as the first culprit. I really don't have the strength to cope with a court case and worse - harassment...

Maybe I was expecting more in the way of positivity as James Brokenshire is the secretary of state for Northern Ireland as opposed to "just a politician" so I felt a letter to him might have a bit more impact with the extra power which he should have in that unique position. Not to be...

Neither do we over here but the way things are going it is looking bleak. Beware in that other part of the UK, you could get lumbered with our nightmare.

I have just received a reply to my letter to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and for the information of all out there who are affected by the ludicrous legislations, the following is a gist of his reply. I did try to enlighten him that the majority here using pedelecs are using them...

Can't argue with that. There is some superb stuff out there and it can only get better. Wish I was ten years younger!

That actually looks very tasty for anyone in the market for a decent folding bike. After experiencing the quality of my Infinity that little gem looks the business and with the extra features over mine I think it seems splendid. Agree about the high price though which would be off putting in...

    Volt range of e-bikes.

Yes both of ours came set for KPH but there is a menu setting option to alter this to MPH which we did. As you say tyre pressures have been kept to 90psi in accordance with the range marked on the sidewalls.

Well my friend you have discovered what I found two seasons ago. That is indeed my bike and everything you say is correct apart from the price which was £2499 back then. Two year warranty and prompt and polite replies to any emails to the company in London. I have obviously no links to the...

I was never involved in the noise you are referring to (too busy in the motor trade) but it was very loud and well organised by "powerful" people. Not too convinced that there is the same level of power or determination in the usually peaceful cycling community and even then there are very few...

Glad you agree about the Pulse bike but sorry to hear about the dealer. Can I say that when we were on our travels researching we were disappointed to find that several dealers (there aren't very many to start with) gave the impression that were selling e-bikes because they felt the market was...

    Volt range of e-bikes.

When we lived in England for 33 years we were involved with many makes, models and types of cycles both before and after my health issues. There was a vast choice of dealers there and we visited a lot of them over the years. Upon returning to Northern Ireland we found remarkably few cycle...

Fair points and relevant to many. However in our case neither speed nor cost are of any concern to us. We just bought what we liked and as I said if we had to do the same again we would buy the same bikes.

Hi Crockers. I understand there is an automatic mode which was not set up at the time of purchase because it was being "refined". I understand that I can have that setting activated now but I have been hesitant as I quite like the manual electronic control. I have heard some comments that the...
