Woman fighting for life after 'e-bike' hit-and-run in east London

Maybe driving one for nearly 30 years made me more aware. On the N/S I had two large heated mirrors and one split mirror but there were occasions when even that wasn't enough.

Woman fighting for life after 'e-bike' hit-and-run in east London

Just watched a programme last evening on Pick called War on Britain's Roads based on cyclist v car and pedestrian. It is obviously a repeat and I am sure most of you have seen it. I have seen it before but it is astonishing to watch this war again and the rights and wrongs on all sides. I have...

Woman fighting for life after 'e-bike' hit-and-run in east London

Gubbins. Don't really want to start up "our" problems again but if you read the thread you will see that the use of e-bikes here carries a host of regulations, some of them totally against what I will accept. Insurance, public liability or otherwise is the least of our problems. My point was...

Woman fighting for life after 'e-bike' hit-and-run in east London

Bear with me guys. This incident takes me right back to "my" monster thread regarding e-bikes in N.Ireland and the fact that they are currently banned because of a technicality. If a similar accident (please no) occured here I believe it would be so much worse for the cyclist as he would be...

Man arrested after woman hurt in London e-bike collision

I am considering the implications of such an incident / accident here in Northern Ireland where these ebikes are currently illegal :(

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Apologies for lifting this thread again and somewhat off topic. Probably I am preaching to the converted but as a follow on from posts #317 #323 and #375 I would like to say that I have just received my card licence from DVA which is now complete with all required categories. What I would like...

    Volt Pulse x

My wife bought a Volt Pulse after failing (pedal cycle) to keep up with me on my Volt Infinity. She is delighted with it as are we both with Volt bikes. As an ex-engineer I can say that the attention to detail is excellent although some will say expensive. As with most things, you get what you...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Going to work Damian is what you have to do and we wish you well to continue to do that on your bike. Our use was due to inability to ride conventional bicycles and was therefore leisure use only. We use our Bromptons for mild leisure use now but it is tiring and painful, therefore restricted to...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

You are obviously a member of the Cuckoos Nest, AKA Northern Ireland so you will have the sympathies of many Pedelecers. If you have not read this thread from the beginning may I suggest that you do because you will find that most everything has been covered regarding our plight here. I...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

No Flecc we don't have paper discs anymore just like the rest of the UK. Tax checks are made by relevant authorities via the registration number of the vehicle. In this lady's case she has no rear number plate but if VED exempt that is perhaps the least of her problems.

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

For anyone still interested in this sorry saga we went to Newcastle yesterday and were amazed to see not one but two Volt ebikes within ten minutes of each other. There is a Volt dealer close to that splendid town at the foot of the Mournes. Tommie will be familiar with him no doubt. I spoke...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Not really searching for a bit of cheap fame - like one lady who I could mention - but it is good to see other views regarding the complexity of this absurd law. I have recently had a bad fall (nothing to do with bikes of any sort) so I am grounded for a while. As I make attempts to recover, the...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Set up as expected. Vehicle reg belongs to a Citroen Berlingo diesel in blue.

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

That was precisely the "suspicion" to which I referred earlier. Plod going out on a limb and sticking rigidly to the letter of the ludicrous law. Ironically he would be within his rights.

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

From the outset all we ever wanted was parity with the rest of the UK to which we belong. Is that OK?
