    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Not to worry Flecc, there is room for both types. The Bromptons have proved invaluable as we have been able to take them in the car to places we would never have been able to take the pedelecs (albeit flat level surfaces) because there was no train service to some excellent seafront areas...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Correct me as necessary but have there not been a few bikes confiscated in the last weeks simply because they were "uninsured"?

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Many thanks for that info. Could there be just a glimmer of light at the end of what was a gloomy tunnel? Forgive if I am wrong but if indeed you are "One from Larne" say hello to that fair town from me and the hospital who looked after my dear Mother during her last days.

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

My days of jumping anywhere are long gone. Do I miss 16 speed boxes and 35 mile tailbacks on the M62? No, that was another life and I have no desire to go back to it.

Obviously restricted to 4mph. His name is Dobbin.

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Yes in fact I have a photocopy image of the old green paper licence showing the motorbike category which I sent to them in my email yesterday. It was my stupidity at the time for not fully checking the new card licence but I am not going to admit that. I should know better than to have trusted...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

I passed my motorbike test in 1966. I rode all manner of bikes including 180mph superbikes for 30 years. I passed my car test in 1967 and have been driving ever since. I passed my Class One HGV test in 1971 and drove all manner of artics etc until 1993 when I was forcibly retired due to an...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

I was just about to agree with you but I know this plan will be a slippery slope as if we agree to a regristation process in any guise we will have to remember that we will be banned from cycle lanes, towpaths, train travel etc etc as applied to mopeds. I may be wrong but I understood that a...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Sadly he is breaking the law and that was confirmed at our meeting yesterday. I believe that the "reason to stop" which would have previously been used if the PSNI deemed the cyclist was in some way a danger on the roads has now been set aside and active ebikes will simply be confiscated as a...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Well that was an interesting day and we were treated like Royalty! The meeting was with Steven Agnew MLA and leader of the Green Party in Northern Ireland. He was a pleasant and agreeable person who at least gave us the chance of a face to face with someone who is sympathetic to our cause...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Part 2. There is bound to be a more civilised way to upload files from docs but I am more at home with a 16 speed Eaton Roadranger than I am with this PC.

Hope this works. Have a read and I'll do a minutes of the meeting when my headache has gone.

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Just got back and found this article. Only thing I am thinking is that Plod are now getting active because of the initial confiscation a while back so they need to be seen to be upholding the "law" in all cases. Personally I don't think he has done us any favours by being over the limit as well...

Took my coat off and we had a pair of serious burgers in Eddie Rockets to drown our sorrows. Wish I had some good news.

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

OK Tommie lad, been to the palace of Stormont and my report will follow soon. Fair to say though that the bottom line is these bicycles are illegal and will be treated as such.
