What do you think this is worth?

He's been trying to con somebody for months and months with this one on eBay. If you look at the state of the motor in the pics and given that's not working he's got to be joking with his listing price. Even anotherkiwi's £27.50 looks generous.

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

The Panasonic motors in my comparison are the crank drives as fitted to the earlier Kalkhoff bikes from 2008 onwards until they diverted into their own Impulse drives. They certainly weren't cheaper bikes, Kalkhoff have always been at the quality end of the market. This quality in the latest...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

Agree, whilst the Tasman Impulse 2 motor is not clacking (yet!!!), it makes also makes whining noise and is nowhere near as quiet as the three Panasonic motors in our 'collection'. This has not turned out to be an UPGRADE in our view!!

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

Sorry to hear that Nemesis. Please keep us informed on how you get on with the replacement. Osho also has problems with a Tasman motor and is returning it to Bristol at weekend. As you say, it's all the faffing around. Starting to ride wife's Tasman with some trepidation.

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

I think that the clacking noise leads to ultimate motor failure, which means a replacement motor. Don't think it's just a replace wearing part job. OK whilst under warranty, but 2 years can soon pass, hence my need to thoroughly test Mrs 'O' new Tasman by getting her off her old ProConnect...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

Keep touching that piece of wood;). It would be good for all Impulse 2 motor Kalkhoff owners to keep in touch and report any motor problems here, so we can get a measure on how common the problem is becoming. I think I count about 5 so far, and Tlllson's report that a replacement motor is...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

This is getting to be quite a concern. I also know that Osho, a member here, who lives close to me is having noise issues with his Tasman Impulse 2 motor now in lower gears, after only about 400 miles use. Would seem that Impulse 2 motors could have a serious inherent fault. I'm getting nervous...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

Roger. Your noise sounds different from Tomtomato. Did you have the motor hum noise before this clacking, and Tomtomato, how quiet is your new motor, do you get a low level hum/whirring noise or is it completely silent?

Are Raleigh bikes any good these days?

From EBS link the Motus seems to be 7 gear Nexus hub, whereas the Captus is a 9 speed derailleur. I don't know if the Motus also comes with a derailleur option, since in an earlier post on a different thread (see below) i found that the Motus did have the derailleur. My experience is that hub...

Anyone got a Raleigh Motus ?

Just looked up the Raleigh Motus. It's got a 10 speed dérailleur on the back, so I would think the gear range would be significantly batter than the Low geared Tasman. Haven't seen what the rear cogs range is on the Motus, but on my ProConnect S I have a 11-32 set, which gives me all the...

Anyone got a Raleigh Motus ?

Make sure you try BOTH out on a test ride and that you are happy with the gearing. Gearing on the Tasman, which comes with a 21 tooth rear sprocket, is quite low. Too low in fact for my wife! and she's no 'girl racer.' Even fitting an 18 tooth sprocket, which notches it up about one gear, it is...

Is Kalkhoff losing brand quality in pursuit of development?

24 spoke wheels weren't all disastrous. My 2008 ProConnect has 9,000 miles on the clock, and is a 24 spoker. My ProConnect S (2010),also just over 9,000 miles on the clock, is a full spoke wheel, but this one has signs of corrosion bubbling up under the paint on the rims.

Is Kalkhoff losing brand quality in pursuit of development?

On batteries, I'm concerned that they are instances of them losing charge whilst in sleep mode on the bike, and I'm starting to think our new Tasman may be doing the same. It sleeps more than normal of course, because the older ProConnect is still the 'preferred' ride

Is Kalkhoff losing brand quality in pursuit of development?

At the risk of being a neanderthal or luddite........ With battery problems and now motor problems I start to believe Kalkhoff have taken their eye of the ball, with the latest breeds poorer that the original panasonic powered units. Having supposedly "upgraded" (i use the term reservedly) my...

2015 Kalkoff Tasman Impulse 8 HS 17Ah low step 46cm frame

No problems. The 18T or 19T sprockets are fine, merely that the 18 is a slightly higher gearing and better in my view). As I said, two links out of the chain, which is he minimum, and here's no problem re the position of the axle in the dropout, and no problem with tyres fouling anything. The...

    Kalkoff batteries again !

But it is still a VERY short time to try a bike, and the warts don't necessarily show up. Things like for example.......Chains becoming slackened because of axle movement in forward facing instead of vertical dropouts (made worse by the 'improved' power input of the new motor compared with older...

    Kalkoff batteries again !

Far from being out of touch...... Rather than being old hands, i believe that some of us have the experience over a number of years of the essential features that are needed in a good ebike and take a measured view on those 'improved' features, which sometimes are made for improvement sake, ...
