how can i make bbs01 PAS respond quicker from standstill

I agree that some of the problem could be the low start current. Coupled with the ramp up, 20% is never going to be quick off the mark. I toyed with my start current a while back, and 10% was unbearably lacklustre. It does give you the perception that nothing is happening at the pedals. I have...

Bafang-bbs01. Can read but not write flash :/

None of the parameters in your pictures look right. Keep current is far too low and I would be surprised if the bike would even move with it set at 1%. As I said, some parameters cannot be changed outside of certain numbers. Did you take the screenshot pictures after you pressed 'Read Flash'?

Bafang-bbs01. Can read but not write flash :/

It probably won't allow you to write to flash if you are trying to change parameters outside of what the firmware allows. For example, changing max current above 15A, or pedal assist start current above 50%.

If you are in the UK, why not pop into Halfords. They usually let you ride around the carpark to get a feel for the bike. Bigger stores have a wider selection of electric bikes though!

Bafang BBS02 axle gearing lost its bite..

This does make me wonder if Bafang changed the design slightly, with less thread. Be interesting to know if the latest units ship with two nuts on the axle, or just the one, with that rubberized seal plug thing to stop the nut from loosening. I use Fuchs Ceplattyn 300

Bafang BBS02 axle gearing lost its bite..

@Scuba Steve Fitted mine yesterday and as you quite rightly stated, it's a direct replacement. I did notice, though not a problem, that the thread on the locknut side is a few threads shorter than my old axle. This meant that I could only fit the one nut and didn't have enough threads to fit...

    Trusted life insurance companies?

Thanks for the reply. When I wrote 'quickness of payouts', I had in mind if anyone works or has worked at potential companies  Aviva is already on my short list, so will also pop Co-op on there too :)

    Trusted life insurance companies?

I'm planning on taking out a life insurance policy that will pay a fixed lump sum to my spouse in the event of my death. I would like to put out the feelers on this forum on which companies members are using, so I can make an informed decision. I'd favour company reliability, reputation and...

    Bafang virgin

Not too bad to be honest. I wouldn't be riding without power as a general rule, but fine as a get you home if the battery runs out of juice. Battery link: http://eclipsebikes.com/index.php?cPath=30_31&osCsid=05b0c71864b8630d7b6d9ccf8cd6f970 I've bought two batteries from Eclipse, and they've...

Neat / tidy long cables on Bafang BBS02 ?

I don't usually disagree with peeps on this forum, but personally I wouldn't be cutting any cabling on the BBS harness or extra wiring from the motor unit. Any short circuiting or water ingress could cause major problems later on. Stick with trying to tie the cabling neatly out of the way.

Zip tie out of the way, but waterproof the ends first.

surprise results with bbs 'keep current' setting

I think you are correct about the cadence thing, as the PAS sensor is merely an on/off switch, so theoretically the controller doesn't factor in how fast the rider is pedaling. I reckon the 'Keep Current' operation is based on a time delay. It gives you max amps at start up, then settles down...
